Clear Liquid Hell... I love my band

Recommended Posts

So facing five more days on Clear liquids I got a little sad... I needed some flavor changes... too much berry, fruit punchy or chicken brothy...bleh I have had enough... So after taking my son and his friend to the movies (my first movie without popcorn and I survived YEAH) ... I went to the store to buy a blender. I decided to cruise the food section just to see if there was anything else I could possible get that had a different taste than these damn Clear Liquids I have been drinking. Almost immediately I found some root beer flavoring (15 kcal tablespoon) that I could add to a slushie! AWESOME! I also picked up some werthers sugar free sucking candies but I am not sure if I can eat them or not (anyone know?)

But the best thing... this is huge for me... As I was cruising the aisles and believe I went down all the food ones except the chips (my downfall) I saw so many things that I love to eat.. Peanut Butter m&ms (on sale), frozen pizza, Pasta dishes and I looked at them longingly but then I realized that even if I try I can't eat this things-- because of my band... it was such a relief.... There was no internal struggle anymore because I can't reach inside and take my band out to fit a pizza down there... What a freaking relief... This is why the band is better than any diet for me... It takes the option away .... now let me return to my 30 kcal root beer slushie (that I won't finish)

Your post made me laugh and brought tears to my eyes because today is the day I'm realizing it doesn't matter how much I want something, HA HA in your face, it won't go down! I just got banded on April 28 and don't really have much of an appetite yet but my head is messing with me. And I laughed because I can finish NOTHING. :-) Wish it would go on forever but it will return with restriction :-)

Great post - enjoy that slushie. You are right that it is a HUGE relief to know that you can only eat so much. I find it libertating in a strange way. You will be amazed how you can create band-friendly versions of just about anything you love! You're well on your way and I wish you the very best! Loryn

Thank you. it is like ya'll reached inside of my mind and took out it's contents. I have been feeling the same thing (albiet three days) but the head hunger gets me for about 15 seconds. As of yet. As of yet. I know I can only do liquids, so I think that is what is saving me. I would have this done seven more times. I LOVE MY BAND! How ya'll feeling? Physically?

Careful with the Werther's. Lots of us are very sensitive to the sugar alcohols in them, and this can become more of a problem postop.

I discovered the mini Werther's preop and was SO excited---until I discovered that 1/3 of the "serving" had more sugar alcohol than my poor gut could tolerate. Horrible cramps and diarrhea ensued---which is likely something you don't want to experience.

So, take it slow with them until you determine whether your body has difficulty with sugar alcohols. Some people have no problem at all with them---but for others, they are misery.

I can 100% relate! I was banded on Monday 4/26 and I am so tired of the same Jello, pudding, Protein Shake routine lolz...i found out i am allowed sugar free sherbert so i made my own smoothie with sherbert and Protein mix...tastes great  ...i am now also starting to look and try and make band friendly mixes to satisfy my hunger at times...

I was banded on 4/20/10. I want to eat something, anything!! So glad to hear you all discuss this today. Everything smells good. I am soooo tired of things that taste like chocolate, vanilla, fruity, etc. I want to have something savory. I want meat of any sort. Thanks for letting me vent! I am not sorry I did my band. I don't regret it and look forward to the day when I can be back to "normal"

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
