Looking for folks with similar stats to buddy

Recommended Posts

I am looking for folk at a similar place in the process and with similar stats to buddy up with and compare notes.

I am in NC

45 yo.

5" 1'

BMI 41.5

224 lbs.

Surgery in mid-late June

I want to regain my ability to go kayaking, camping, and to feel sexy again!! I want to be good roll model for my girls, 3 and 5 yo. I make fairly healthy food choice, but I seem to have a super human appetite. I seem to be able to eat twice as much as other folks w/o feeling full at all.

Here's to making friends and not going it alone.

Hi Merry! I am close to you in a lot of things. I am:

Age: 38

Weight: 231

Height: 5' 3"

BMI: 40.9

Surgery Date: June 16th

I'm really excited to be starting my journey. I work full time and was just promoted into a new position where I am Manager of Budgets and Financial Analysis. It's been a fun, but challenging, change as I went from being a co-worker to the manager (same team).

I have two wonderful daughters who are 18 and 13. When I'm not working I'm usually hanging out with one of them or my husband. We just celebrated our 19 year anniversary last week

HI JJ, Joy and Renee!

I'm so excited to find some folks with similar goals and challenges. I get the impression from all the literature that, folks with lower (realativly )BMIs, often have slower progress but end up getting closer to their ideal weight. My surgeon said the same thing, "folks with higher BMIs tend to lose more pounds but those with lower BMIs get closer to their ideal."

Of course I would love to weigh 122 but i think a more reasonable goal might be 150!

Congrats on the new job JJ! Sounds exciting and challenging.

I am an assistant principal in eastern NC. I generally work 11 hours a day and there is a lot of food always being brought to school. Between the exhaustion and the temptation, I have a lot to overcome. Currently I am using Lipton instant green tea as a crutch! It gives me a boost and isn't quite so bad for me.

I have:eek: my psych eval tomorrow! After that my date will be set. The doc is thinking mid-late June.

I'm so glad to meet you all!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Merry..and all....

I think we have posted together before..but..

I am 35

236lbs

5'2 bmi 43

Surgery goal is for july

I have the similar problem...with food...junk is not my issue...just love to cook and really trying to find a new hobby...and just a new way to cook..I love the outdoors..and also..really looking forward to getting back to kayaking..just feel so crzy getting in and out of the difficult situation with the kayak..and if I fell...out trying to get back up is nearly impossible...

While I am in nj...I would be more then happy to offer support..as we go through this process...I am finding that there are so many challenges...beyond all the appointments and the waiting period...just losing weight for me right now is just so frustrating...but everyday I am realistic..and keep trying to make better decisions.

good luck all..hope to hear from you soon

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
