What do you normally have for breakfast?

Recommended Posts

I usually eat a Protein bar. I like the Think Thin and the Jim's Permalean Peanut Butter bars. The Think Thin has like 20g of Protein, and Jim's has 23g of protein. It holds me until lunch.

I used to eat Cereal for Breakfast, but it doesn't have much protein. I will sometimes eat that for supper, but not often.

I eat 3/4 cup of Nature's Path Organic banana & Almond Cereal, with 1/2 cup of almond milk. 243 calories, 43g carbs, 7g fat, 11g Protein. And very filling.

That's the bulk of my carb intake during the day.

Bambam,

Your smoothie sounds great! I can't wait to try it. I have just started soft foods so I have tried scrambled eggs, grits, oatmeal, and Protein shakes this week.

Mimi -

Hope you enjoy it! I have fresh strawberries in the house this week and have been using those instead of the frozen, but they do make the smoothie a little thinner (which is okay because I had a fill last week and the thicker smoothie was even slow going the first few days).

I have never been a big breakfast eater, but with the band, I try to put something in my mouth. Plus I am also tighter in the morning and have very little appetite. My staples are either a shake similar to the other poster's--non fat milk, 2 scoops of vanilla Protein Shake, Crystal light orange sunrise, frozen bananas and strawberries, or a quesadilla made with southwestern egg beater, fat-free cheese, and low-carb wheat tortillas or roll it up for a burrito (I add turkey bacon sometimes), and lately this Protein Bar I get at Wal-mart by Meta-Rx--the big 100--it has 32g of Protein. They have more carbs than I like so I usually eat one when I am really in a hurry, but it is huge and I sometimes do not finish it--I am not hungry until lunch time. I also do Greek Yogurt or Carbmaster yogurt and string cheese wrapped with some ham or turkey. Whatever I eat I try to get in 25-40 grams of protein in so that at other meals, I do not have to concentrate on the protein first and can eat more veggies and fruit and whole grains.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
