Using Implanon as Birth Control

Recommended Posts

I have been on Birth Control for about 14 years. After my band I found it was harder to take cause some days I just couldn't get anything down. On Friday I had the Implanon put in which is an implant in your arm..Since I have had this put in I have not been able to eat anything at all. I was just wondering if anyone else is using the implanon and if they have ran into similar problems..Am also worried about gaining any weight would love to hear from other users..Thans

I have the Implanon as well, and I never had a problem with not being able to eat after having it put in. I wonder if maybe your body just went into a bit of shock from the pain it is coping with even though you are numbed up. The only thing I did feel like is I had a slight increase in appetite, but I have had that with every BC I have used. I love my Implanon though!

I had Implanon as well.. I got it installed right after my last baby was born.. I gained when I was supposed to be losing baby weight I was gaining not to mention that I bled for 4 months.. After six I was done.. I ended up going and get a Paraguard (copper IUD). My cycle is heavier but it's not longer and I don't bleed inbetween.. I love it. I also like knowing that Paraguard has no hormones.

Though not everything works for everyone. I hope the Implanon works for you..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
