List Your NSVs for Inspiration

Recommended Posts

Ok - so I'm still fairly early in this journey and had my first fill yesterday but I thought it would be good for us to list NSVs as inspiration for everyone. I haven't lost a large amount of weight, yet, but am already noticing some things.

1) My wedding band goes on and off without issues. It used to be so tight, I'd have to soap it up to get it off. LOL!

2) I had to fly this weekend and FIT in the seat decently and didn't have to suck in to get the seat belt to click. My butt didn't lift up the armrest between me and the next guy.

3) I have on pants today that are fitting comfortably and they were too tight just weeks ago. I was also able to get on a pair of jeans that I haven't worn since last year. And they zipped and I could BREATHE.

4) When I sit down, I don't feel this big stomach resting on my thighs. I know - terrible, right? I used to feel my big belly on my legs and now it's not as noticeable.

5) Had some "fun" with the hubby and didn't have any problems "reaching" because my belly wasn't in the way. :)

My favorite recent NSV - I just bought a pair of WHITE crop pants. Now for those of you "triangles" out there who always looked good in white pants - congrats. But for us pears, this was a huge leap. My first pair of white pants since...oh I don't know, grade school?

My favorite NSV - feeling like I fit in and am "normal". People aren't looking or judging the fat girl anymore. And I have to say that the fact that food doesn't seem to have as much of a hold over me anymore is a great reliever. The feeling of having some sort of control of my food issues has been very liberating.

Awesome NSVs so far! Keep 'em coming!

I think buying smaller clothes is always a good one! And, feeling like you have a handle on food and won't go crazy - that's a BIGGIE, too!

I love that I don't think about food all day long. In fact I only do when it is meal time and I am hungry. I used to spend the whole day thinking and planning meals Snacks, etc.

Fitting into smaller and smaller jeans is also huge. I also get a lot of pleasure out of fitting into the chair with both of my little miniature daschunds at the same time...

Most of my summer clothes from last year are too big although I am going to have to be creative because I am not buying new ones yet!

Well it is easier to take them in than to let them out!!

I have been going to thrift stores and getting a few things because I don't want to buy clothes yet either. When I got to a size 14, I bought an expensive pair of jeans because I thought I would never be smaller than 14!! Well then I got into a 12 and thought the same thing. Now I am buying 10s at the thrift store. I will wait until it is hot, to buy summer stuff. Hugs!!!

What the heck is a NSV???? Is that some sort of woman thing??

It's a Non-Scale Victory. Took me a while to figure it out, too. Basically, it's the things that happen while you're losing weight that you notice but are separate from the numbers on a scale.

Although, I could see where you'd think it was a chick thing. LOL!

Fun!

Let's see, being able to RUN (yep, I have NEVER been a runner, but I love that now I can). Being able to fit in one of our chairs with both my kids (and they aren't piled up on my lap fighting for space, LOL). Being able to fit comfortably on any ride at Disneyland. Going from a size 22/24 (pants) to a size 10 and from a 26/28 (top) to a Large!! It's awesome to be able to shop ANYWHERE! Being able to wear heels and not feel like my feet are going to fall off, LOL.

Question, how do you get the tickers and markers to post on your messages?????

Just click on one of the tickers and it will take you to the website. You have to copy and paste the code after you create your ticker, into the signature section of your profile. Then after that, when you do your updates, it will automatically change it in your profile.

Thank you Donna, I will try that.... I did do that earlier today but it didn't seem to work... and what about your profile picture, how do I get that to show up on my threads or profile, I have one there but can't see it once I am out of my own profile, can't see it in any of my postings or anything.... do you know how to do that?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
