Restriction? or Too Tight?

Recommended Posts

Well- I got my second fill on Friday and the first did nothing for me so I told the doc we needed to be a little more aggressive with this one. HE WAS! The first fill was 4cc and he said he would probably give 1/2 after that untill we got to the green zone. When I went in for the second I got 2cc. Problem is: I dont know if im being a wimp or if im too tight. I can not eat anything! I know a few days of all liquid but this is 5 days later and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and 1 egg will not even go down. I think I got about 3 very small bites and thats it.

O.K. people let me know. Do I just have to deal with it for a few more days or should I call the Dr? Nobody wants to go for a small unfill but this is real uncomfortable.

BTW Im down 96 lbs. in 10 months- maybe 50 or so pre surgery- but that big 100 is so close I dont want to go backwards.

Thanks for the help.

God Bless

You should be able to eat by now. I think I would have him take .2 to .25 out and see how that goes. Often a tiny bit makes a huge different.

As long as your keeping down fluids I would give it a few more days. There is probably still some swelling. I usually have a tough time after a fill. Good luck!

I would do the unfill...you should be able to eat at this point. A little bit will make a huge difference!!!

Went to the Doc. Did a slight unfill- .75cc. WAY BETTER! Should have not been too aggressive for only the second fill.

Thanks for the advise

Wow, I am going through the same thing you are. I got my 3rd fill and I was on liquids and mushys for the next 4 days. On my 5th day I went on a business trip to Vegas and I have not been able to eat anything at all. I can only drink Water, shake and eat Soups. But not creamy Soups. It's not a good feeling because everything I threw up everything.

So, my first two months I lost 19 lbs. for the last three weeks I hadn't lost anything at all. Then after 5 days of not eating anything, just liquids, I lost 7 lbs. How does that happen?

I was thinking about going to the doctor but I have lost so much weight that I don't want to go. Oh and another thing, I am not hungry! So, here it is two weeks after my 3rd fill and I've decided to just eat soups until my next doctor's visti (in two weeks) so that I can loose more weight because I was at a plateau!

I know how you feel about losing with the new restriction. That part made me wait to go see the dr. I could not even sip Soups. I was real concerened about not getting enough nutrition. When they did the body mass thing on the scale it showed that in 6 days I lost 13 lbs. The bad part was 5 lbs of that was muscle. 8 lbs of fat good- 5 lbs of muscle not good. I dont blame you for waiting but be careful you are not starving yourself in the mean time. We need a certain amount of good food just to make it through each day. We want less thats why we all got the band in the first place. I was not hungry either but realized nothing at all was dangerous.

Good luck.

God Bless.

I seem to be having sort of the same issue. I had my 2nd fill in January and have not needed to go back as of yet. Until the past 2 weeks I was comforable and now I can not seem to keep anything down. I am scared to have some taken out for fear of gaining, but at the same time I know I am not getting what my body needs if I am vomiting all the time.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
