How much did you lose on post-op diet?

Recommended Posts

I'm day 9 post op and have lost 9 pounds so far. ** Whoot Whoot **

Of course, I'm on liquids only, so I guess initial rapid weight loss is to be expected...so, my question is:

How much did YOU lose during you post op diet before your first fill, and did you stall?

I lost all 9 pounds by day 5, and since then have remianed the same. I'm not complaining, 9 pounds is 9 pounds, but I think I got over excited seeing suce a rapid loss and now nothing...even though I know it's normal.

I am on 3 weeks liquids & 2 weeks mushies.

Thanks!!

I'm 2 weeks and 2 days post-op and I lost about 15lbs on my pre-op and then 7 on post op between day 1 and 4 and now I'm stuck at 22-23lbs lost. I'm not worried about it because I know it's normal and once my body is adjusted and I kick up the exercising a bit, which will start tonight, it will start to come off again.

I lost 12 lbs post-op before my first fill. Then.... I came to a sudden halt and did not lose any weight the next week :smile2: I think most of the problem is making the adjustments in my lifestyle and food choices. I found that I couldn't eat as much as before and would quit eating when I was full, but my food choices and grazing throughout the day hurt.

I just had a 2nd fill this week and am determined to keep my eating under control. I have made a goal to lose 10 lbs before my next fill.

I have also made a decision to put my scales away and not weigh myself until I go back to the doctor. I found myself weighing every day and it would get very discouraging seeing the lbs go up and down all the time. Hopefully, this helps!

From surgery date to first fill 10lbs..

It seems crazy that we do not drop boat loads of weight at the begining doesnt it? I have never figured that out. One would think the weight would just fall off..... FAST.. right after surgery. But....?????

I did not have Great weight loss until after the third fill. MAN, that was intense! That is when I had MAJOR RESTRICTION.

Just be sure to stick with a routine of getting your fills, and excersise. After you are done with liquid/mushie phase be sure to eat Protein first, then green veggies. Thats when the weight really comes off.

Before my first fill? 16 pounds, if I recall correctly. I didn't stall--my loss has been pretty steady all along. (I really don't count staying the same weight for a few days as a "stall.")

But I also only was on liquids for a couple of days; my doctor moves us to purees on Day Three.

I kind of chuckled when I read your subject line. "Postop diet" describes what many of us do for months after surgery. I know I've been doing it since January! I just started feeling restriction with my third fill (2 weeks ago). And it's already relaxed enough that whatever weight I'm losing, at this point, is by sheer willpower.

Please don't pin tons of hopes on your first fill. It does get the ball rolling toward restriction, but it usually does not give you a great sense of dramatic change.

I lost 17 lbs the first 2 weeks and then nothing so far...today is my 1 month mark...so I think that's pretty normal.

I will have my first fill on April 20th.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
