5 day pouch test to help be back on track?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about doing the 5 day pouch test to help me jump back on the bandwagon and get back on track. I've made some awful food choices lately and I think it's starting to get consistent. I sometimes forget I have the band and I don't chew enough, so I end up getting stuck. Its passes in a few minutes but I know I should've learned by now. I'm about 3 months post op with 3cc in a 10cc band. I have a fill appt next week hoping to get 2 more cc's!

Any advice to getting back on track?!?!

That's their marketing material but what is the test exactly? Do you work for the company?

No I don't work for the company. I heard about this on this site a couple of months ago, tried it and it worked for me. If you click on the link in the previous post, it will take you to the site that lists what you need to eat on each of the 5 days. It may not be for everyone, but I found it did work for me and I no longer wanted to snack and it curbed my cravings.

Just a thought. But this is a fad diet. It can and would be a slip back into bad patterns in my life. I have fad dieted, and it works short term, but maybe it would be better to look at why you are making the choices you are, deal with those issues, and not fall back into the magic diet patterns.

If you are forgetting your banded, maybe you need to slow down, journal and pay attention.

This actually sounds a lot like my surgeon's rules for after a fill. I think the 5-day pouch test is just what I need right now. Sometimes (especially during a plateau!) I think your body needs a change to jumpstart/restart your metabolism and clean out your system. I suppose it's similar to calorie rotation -- keep your body on its toes -- no ruts!

I agree, Jacki. It can be a fad for some, but I am 6 months post op. The one time I've done it I was very happy. It may not be good for new bandsters to do for fear of starting bad habits, but it's definitely something that helped me get from my first fill to the second....

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
