How much weight did you loose in 6 months? I'm trying to figure out if I'm on track or if I need to ramp up my efforts.

I'm about 4 and a half months banded and I've lost about 70 lbs so far but that includes 3 week liquid diet pre-op. So really since surgery which was a week before Thanksgving I have lost 40lbs.

I will be 6 months out on 4/21 (surgery was on 10/21) and I have lost 42 lbs post-op (rest of the weight was pre-op).

It's coming off a little slower now, but I am very happy with the results! Please remember everyone is different, so while you are getting a benchmark from all of us, remember you have to do what works best for you :-)!

Good luck!!

It would probably be in your best interests to NOT compare yourself to anyone else. People with the band lose at widely varying rates, and you might be selling yourself short if you try and achieve someone else's goal.

Talk to your Doctor, and see what their expectations are for you.

Your rate of loss will be dependant upon many variables, and trying to compare your progress with someone else might be unrealistic and potentially discouraging to you.

S.

This sounds crazy but while on my 6 month diet that my insurance required I gained 30 pounds. I alos broke my foot during that time though. Had surgery on 11/23/10 and have lost 48 pounds since. My goal for six months is 70 pounds. But I agree everyone loses at differant pace. Depends on what you eat how much you work out and your metabo.

I am 6.5 months out and have lost 40 pounds, but I only have 10 left to lose (yes, I was self-pay!) These last ten pounds do NOT want to come off.

I have lost 30 pounds at the six month mark, which is about half of what I want to loose. It is slow, but I am happy with it. This is for life...ya know?

Good Luck.

My loss is slow too. My doctor was very conservative with my fills at first, which was very frustrating. I wasn't full for a long enough time after I ate for the first 4 months after my surgery. I was banded August 10, 2009 and right now I am down 41 pounds (that includes all the weight I gained before my pre-op diet because I went "hog-wild" and ate everything in sight). Of those 41 pounds, I have lost 29 pounds since the end of December (which is when my fill was finally on target).

Hey! I am about to hit my 6 month mark on the 14th. I was banded on 10/14/09. Started at 240 and am now and 208...my goal weight is about 150-160.

I am at 32 pounds lost right now...very slow and frustrating..especially when I compare myself with others. Moral of the story.....try not to compare and beat yourself up over it. I am doing what I need to do and living life. As someone said before...this is not one of our previously failed diets...this is for real a lifestyle change.

Hang in there and good luck!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
