March 30th is the day

Recommended Posts

I'm both excited and nervous at the same time. It took me about 2 years to work up the courage to do this. You really get a lot of different stories reading all the posts, some of them not too encouraging. Previously to reading the posts I think I assumed all the cravings would just go away but I realize now that is not the case and even with the band there is a lot of other work to do on my part. My husband is very supportive so I know that will help me a lot. Is there a good place to get suggestions as what to eat once you are off just the liquids? And just mainly drinking a lot of Protein Shakes, is that a good option?

Hey Judy,

Congratulations, you are on your way! I got my post-op diet yesterday and actually is a slow build-up of eating for 4 weeks. I don't have them with me right now, but I know the first week will be clear liquids like broth, sugar free Jello and popsicles, skim milk, and unsweetend juices. More is added the second week, third week, and so on. After the fourth week you are on a regular healthy diet. Good luck!

Hi there! March 31st is my day, so we can learn together! Your doc should give you a step plan for food. If he/she doesn't, let me know and I will send you mine, it's really detailed. Good luck on your banding, and let us know how you are doing!:Banane20:

My day is March 31st as well. My insurance approval is still pending which is causing a bit of anxiety. I am just making the necessary phone calls and trying not to let it get to me.

Good luck to you both. I wish you well next week and beyond.

March 31st is my day .... I am excited and nervous like you. I actually began this process 12/07, went to orientation in 1/08! :tt1: . I did all the initial stuff like the classes and lab work, then took over a year to reach my goal weight! .... I think I just needed more time to research it. Good luck to all of you next week too! So many people on this board say it's the best thing they ever did, hoping for similar success!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
