your Port and the TT

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if the PS do anything with the port or tubing at the time of surgery with a Tummy Tuck? Is it moved? Has anyone had less than satisfactory results because their surgeon doesn't dissect up to the port? Is your port more visible after a TT?

thanks

T

All very valid questions and ones I had, too. My PS won't touch the port so I am wondering about the outcome. My port is already bulging out a bit so I a sure it will be more prominent after surgery and recovery. I will have a port relocation surgery in a few months and get a mini port. I will let you know after Monday's TT if I have a less than good outcome.

My PS says he or my lapband surgeon will change the port to a smaller version a "revision" i think he called it. It will be done while he is doing the TT.

Yeah, I ddn't either. He said sometimes after the TT you will not only be able to see the port but the area could get irritated because the bigger port will be rubbing. The other is port is much smaller. Ask him about it.

I had an inverted t abdominoplasty 4 weeks ago. My port is sewn onto the rib cage, inthe middle abou an inch or so up from the begginning of the rib cage. Is that providing an accurant picture of where it is? The band of my bra sits on top of it and sometimes it is difficult to wear an underwire because of the port.

Having said that, I never have to worry about anyone seeing the port cos it is always covered over with bra or other clothing. The vertical incision for the ITA ended 3 or 4 inches below the port - and I do have a very small dog ear (what a lovely expression) which my PS has said she can fix, if necessary when she does the rest of my body work (I sound like a clapped out Corvette).

My band surgeon has asked me if the prominence of the port bothers me, but when I said that it didn't he didn't pursue it at all. Maybe if it did bother me he might have offered me a revision.

Am very happy with new tummy!

I asked about having mine moved also. Where the surgeon wanted to put it, i was concerned (in between the breast area) because someone told me there's sticks out there.

i don't want mine to be noticable, and i was afraid that when the belly in flat, it will stick out.

My lapband Dr. is not in the same town as my PS surgeon (if he were, he would go move it himself), and he really doesn't want anyone else touching it in fear of causing infection in the port area.

I finally decided that i'm leaving it were it is at.

IF it shows really bad, and they can do it without making another scar (because the only scar that you can still see is my port scar, and it will either be cut away or pulled so far down, no one would see it (it should end up right at my TT scar, if not removed).

My port is also high between my ribcage just below where my bra hits. I had a TT 1 year ago in January and my PS removed the port, tightened the muscles all the way up and then stitched my port back in. Wish I had known about the smaller ports before my surgery, but you really don't see it unless you are really looking. Love my new tummy took away most of the lapband scars.

Hello

Just my 2 cents...My port was repositioned to the side since it was in the front, so after TT just looks like part of my new six packs.

My PS did it himself, he said it wasn't a big deal, and i haven't had any problems with my lap band fills. However my PS was done in Colombia, Southamerica.

I feel great with my new TT and six packs..

Regards,

Vicky

I didn't know the port came in different sizes! I wonder if I can get my PS to revise my port at the time of surgery....

It's called a low profile port. The surgeons hate to use those initially because they are harder to hit for fills. When I had my TT the surgeon didn't touch my port, BUT when I return for my Anchor Cut TT, he will most likely come in contact with it. I'm hoping he won't have to move it. He did fix a hernia that was just below the port.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
