How long did it take for your bloating to go away? I'm day 5 and I can't stand the bloating. I've been walking around quite a bit, but I haven't been going on designated "walks". Any light at the end of the tunnel? When will I feel normal again?? haha.

Ok now i hope im not the one who has/had this problem.. Today is day 5 post op .. Iv been a little bloated but today im soo bloated. I look like im 9months pregnant and i cant even suck in my gut. So i dunno if this is normal .. Thanks guy

I am post op day 6... I'm finding a lot of people have the same problem with may different solutions. For me, it helped to walk and walk a lot. also use gas x or whatever gas relief med you can find. allow yourself to "pass gas".

I'm a month out and I still feel bloated a few times a week! Gas is still an issue although nothing like the first 2 wks post op! After I eat solids I tend to feel gassy so I don't know when or if the gas issue ever fully goes away but it does get much better. My stomach has gone down considerably! Gas x, heat pad, walking & massages -especially for the shoulders & neck really helped me.

I am Day #32 post op and I got relief around Day #29. I bought a homeopathic pill from Henry's. The box says "Gas". It helped and then I take Miralax in my coffee in the AM. I still get bloated after eating sometimes - perhaps too when I eat too much. Gas-x did not really help me. I am now wondering if the bloating/gas lasts for some people. Let's hope not. It, however, is not the really bad bloat that hurts because your pants are so tight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
