Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor 3 Months in and not doing well

Recommended Posts

I am a 27 year old single female in Houston, Texas. I am 3 months out with 11 pounds lost. I am having a difficult time realizing when I am full. I went to the doctor to get a fill and was informed I stretched my pouch. I have been put on 3 days liquid and 4 days soft foods. I am so disappointed in myself. I don't think I have a clue as to what I am supposed to do to make this work. I need help.

Dont be hard on yourself. Its a very difficult thing, learning to realise "enough" rather than "stuffed full". We were all looking for that FULL feeling early on, its what we've spent a lifetime attaining.

Stretched pouches, within reason, can be rectified. You just need to work hard on recognising satisfied and stopping short of FULL.

I am out by Galveston. Banded almost 8 months, no problems would be happy to talk to you anytime. Who was your Dr. Are you going to support group. It really helps to be around people going through what you are. I go to 3 different support groups if you want to know about them. You can private message me or just e-mail me at crodriguez17@comcast.net. Most of the support groups I attend are in Pasadena, Alvin and friendswood

My Dr. is Kenneth Hollis with True Results. I do not attend support groups because I work nights and live in Humble. I would love to work on being around people that are going through what I am going through and would love to talk to you as well.

I'm in my third month, too--and am a former Houstonian.

I'm doing well with my band; if you need a buddy, I'm here--PM me :blushing:

Yolly I am 4 months out and have had no problems. I have lost 62 lbs so far. I would love to help you as well. You can contact me at dsmith16@tampabay.rr.com I do agree that it was hard to figure out what the signs were at first what "full" felt like but then there were different indicators that really worked for me...hiccups (main one for me)..portion control (how much did I really need to satisfy my hunger and last me until the next meal (and what foods was I eating).

Thanks you guys for all the support. I went in today and was informed that my pouch is back to normal. I was very happy to hear that. I am only 13 pounds down. I am a slow loser but it has been picking up lately. You really don't know how much it means to me to have support. I don't really have anyone to talk to about what I am going through.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
