Liquids to mushies!

Recommended Posts

Hi allsmile.gif I was banded on Oct. 24 and am on the liquid diet for 3 weeks then mushies for 3. I have a couple of questions for all you fellow bandsters out there. 1) Is Soup concidered a liquid? I have green pea soup with a little extra Water in it. It can fit through a straw so is this considered a part of the liquid diet? I got so sick of chicken and beef broth after 1 1/2 weeks so I tried split pea and green pea extra watery and smushed. It was great but is it ok? 2) any suggestions for mushies? I know that cottage cheese, refried Beans, oatmeal, cream of wheat and scrambled eggs but is there any other suggestions for this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Janet

Hey Janet,

I would say anything that doesn't have particles in it IS liquid. I'm on thicker liquids now and I am eating butternut squash Soup that has little teeny pieces of potato in it. So far so good, I'm also eating cream of mushroom soup that has teeny particles in it.

Now my doc said that I could puree anything I want for the mushy stage. I am planning on having pudding, mashed taters, cauliflower mashed up, and maybe some sweet taters.

I did sneak in some goldfish crackers  for some reason it really helped me go to the bathroom LOL.

I never liked egg drop Soup but I would think you could have it during muchy stage. Every doctors diet is different (say that 5 times real fast LOL) so if your not sure, ask.

For the mushy stage the Idaho instant potatoes come in several flavors like Loaded baked, butter and herb and 4cheese they are very good and a snap to make put some sourcream on them. very nummy.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
