pain in right side :( could it be my band?

Recommended Posts

I have been banded since Feb 11th and have been loving it so far. I am down around 28 pounds and feeling really good.

This morning I woke up and have this pain on my right side centered just below my ribs. I have been on pureed foods and have been doing pretty well. I just can't figure out what this is. Ouch! Yes it hurts when I press on it.(I know don't press on it.) It almost feels like it goes to my back.

I'm not sure if it's my band or a muscle, I did start exercising the other day but nothing that would cause this pain. I took Iburprophen this morning and it hasn't made a change.

Any suggestions??

It sounds like the way my gallbladder felt before I had it removed. I compared it to feeling like a lower rib was sticking in to my lung.

Best thing to do is call your Dr and get it checked out.It may be a pulled muscle or it could be something to do with your port. You have only recently had the surgery so you need to be very careful what exercise you do at this stage. Things like walking are fine but strenuous stomach exercises could cause problems with the port. It is usually recommended that you allow a certain time after surgery to allow everything to heal before doing this kind of exercise.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
