Discouraged!!!

Recommended Posts

I have not had the lap band yet. I am still in my 6 month supervised diet phase. But I have been going to the gym faithfully for almost a year now. Well this is the second time this has happened but I have inflamation in my hip flexors which is limiting my cardio time. I am trying to stay active in the gym because I want it to be a life change and something I continue to do. But I don't see where I can keep this up until I loss some weight where working out wont be so hard on my joints and body. Am I crazy for thinking this way?

You're not crazy at all. Does your gym have a pool? Maybe Water aerobics will be easier on your joints. And don't worry about wearing a bathing suit. Most classes allow people to wear t-shirts and shorts.

The gym I go to is really small and doesn't have any type of pool. It being more small is the reason I love it so much and the reason why it's so easy for me to go to because I feel comfortable going there. The other plus is that it is right downstairs from my work. With it being right downstairs I don't even have a chance to talk myself out of going.

Maybe you could work on just toning your arms and legs with weightlifting? If you build muscle it uses more energy throughout the day so you burn more calories. It may not be as fast as cardio but it will be less painful. Then when you add the band and start losing weight faster you can add back in the cardio?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
