Hi everyone, I am new as well. I started my process in January and have been through most of my doc's requirements. I am waiting to hear from insurance. I have a previous 6 month diet with metobolic research center and If insurance excepts that then i am a go for surgery. If not, then I need to finish out my monitored diet with my doctor. I have 4 months left. So, June would be my month. I am ok with either option but, I would really like to know now what to expect. It's hard to wait.

Eye on the prize.. kudos, that was well said. I don't mind the diet part. It would give me extra time to lose weight before the surgery. I am just really looking forward to unzipping the fat suit and getting the help I so badly need in order to do that. It's nice to know other people on here are doing the same thing I am at the same time. It's a great support tool. Did you start your diet yet?

Not so good!!! I need to be held accountable or weigh in somewhere or something. I do the exercise part great. I really enjoy working out. But, the food thing has always been my struggle. I think I need to get better educated on the carbs and portion sizes and the counting calories thing too. I will be routing for you. Let me know how it goes! Good luck. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
