What is in your pre op diet?

Recommended Posts

I am already banded but my band is being removed for 3 months. I am worried about gaining my weight back so I was thinking of following a pre op diet plan. However before I was banded I wasn't required to follow a diet before surgery so I am wondering what everyone else's pre op diet plans look like.

What did you have to eat

What weren't you allowed to eat etc

Thanks

5 Optifast shakes a day. 160 calories each for a total of 800. They are delicious but I don't know if they are available in Korea.

Mine involved 2 Protein shakes a day (I used Inspire shakes from bariatriceating.com) and a meal consisting of 4 oz. of Protein and a cup of non-starchy vegetables. Additionally, I could have 2 servings each of broth, sugar-free Jello, and/or sugar-free popsicles each day.

It wasn't the most fun I've ever had, but it was liveable.

I hope you're feeling better fast!

This is copied right from the paper work the doctor gaev me since I have not started it yet.

"You can have 2 Protein Shakes per day. The product we recommend is Bariatric Advantage. Or you can get any Protein shack, brand or flavor, just make sure that it is less than 200 calories and low sugar. Most will be spproximately 20 grams of protein. You can mix the Protein Powder with 8 oz of skim milk or Water. You can also add fresh or frozen fruit (no sugar added) to your shake." Then I can have 1 meal per day that is low fat and low calorie. They suggested either SmartOnes or Lean Cuisine frozen dinners or lean grilled meat and steamed veggies. Then I can consume any amount of sugar free drinks: Tea, coffee, flavored waters, crystal light

Broth-as long as it is reduced sodium

Sugar free popsicles and Jello

Then only 2 cups per day of the following

Gatorade, juice, skim milk, sherbert, and diet soda

Same thing I was told in Pre op meeting yesterday. Easiest way for me was shake for Breakfast, lunch, then lean cuisine or smart ones for dinner. Light snack of nuts, or Jello.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
