How many fills can you get?

Recommended Posts

I was just reading another board on here and someone had posted that they've had 3 fills and are holding off on the 4th because they know they can't get too many more. I have not heard nor read anything about fill limit previously and I've seen posts with people having 7 or 8. Has anyone been informed of a set limit and what is it? Thanks for your help!

There isn't a limit to the number of fills but there is a limit to the amount of saline that can be put in.

Here in Australia Dr's like to take the slow and steady approach so we tend to get lots of small fills e.g .2ml etc. in the US Drs appear to be more aggresive and seem to put in bigger fills eg 4ml etc.

Also every person is different and the amount that they need to reach their"sweet spot" will be different.I have a 10ml band and only have about 3ml total fill. Some people have far more than this. I believe with a Realize band that more fill is required to reach restriction and that some people even have more fill in than the supposed band capacity.

So the bottom line is don't worry. If you feel you need a fill go and see your Dr and they will work out what is best for you.

Oh I'm not worried and getting my fills as scheduled (number 2 is Monday WOOHOO!!!) I was just curious as I'd never heard anyone say anything about a limit on the number of fills before. Thanks for the info!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
