need some words of encouragment

Recommended Posts

:confused:Hello so today is day 5 out of surgery and I'm feeling very depressed. I have 2 small kids and being in pain and discomfort isn't allowing me to participate in anything with them. I know this pain/discomfort is only temporary but about how long did everyone else feel down and out...

before surgery I read so many good stories about people recovering so quickly and with my 2 c-sections I was fine within a matter of days...this port site is very painful and uncomfortable.. All I want to do is lay in bed....I need some words of encouragment please help...

This is normal and you will feel a little better each day. It was at least a week before I felt almost normal. I too read all the stories about "I went back to work 2 days later", well guess what? There is NO WAY I could've gone back in 2 days!!! I think that people are just different. I didn't bounce back from this easily, but I had two kids and was in labor for a day and a half with each of them, no problem. You will a little better each day. I promise.

It's true, you do get better each day. I went back to work after a week but, to be honest, I felt weak and tired for a couple of months.

Lean on your friends & family for support and help with the kids. Of course come here too!

Hope you feel better quick!

I can't believe how much we have in common! I have a 4 year old son and a 2 year old daughter. I had c-sections with both and have been banded 16 days. I did have pain at the port sight for about 2 weeks. When you feel down you have to think that while you might not be 100% for the kiddos now, the choice you made in having this surgery is going to give those babies the best mommy they can have! Email me anytime or if you want my number send an email and I can give you that. Take care and hang in there!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
