Well the day is almost :blink:here. Friday is band day. Any suggestions or words of advice from the "banded experts"? Thanks!!

Well that is great- a band day buddy! Believe it or not, I do not feel nervous at all. I've been on a liquid diet for almost 2 weeks so I am just ready to get the band on and get back to "normal". How about you, you nervous at all?

Best to you on Friday! I think if you polled every person they would have a different experience with the surgery. I wished I had an overnight stay because I was pretty uncomfortable after the surgery. Ask the doc about anti nausea meds which I didn't have and pain meds have on hand along with plenty of Water and clear Soups etc. I had my surgery almost 2 years ago and I haven't regretting it for a minute.

Good luck!

I stayed in the hospital over night. My experience wasn't that bad. But as someone else stated, everyone is different. Get yourself some Gas-X strips incase you have the gas pains. Use your pain medication when you need it, and don't wait until your pain is out of control to take the medication because then it takes twice as long to work. Be sure that you walk as much as you can. Get your rest and heal. Don't be to concerned about weightloss at first because you are healing. That's not to say you won't lose the weight too. Follow the plan that the doctors gives to you and you will be successful. Get yourself some sugar free ice pops. I live on them and they help with the swelling also.

Congratulations and good luck to everyone that is being banded. Any questions along the way don't hesitate to ask. I was banded on Oct 23, 2009. Although I am not a 'ole time' bander I can answer some questions. This is the best thing that I have ever done for myself and if I had to do it all over again. I would.

My surgery is tomorrow too! I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 for a 7:30 am surgery.

Good luck to all! Let's check back in next week and see how everyone's doing.

My surgery is tomorrow too! My surgery is at noon and I have an overnight stay. I didn't think about posting on this website until I saw this. I'm bringing my laptop and some dvd's to watch while I'm there. I've pre-researched as much advise as I could and so far everyone's saying walk, walk, and walk some more. I've read and been told that Gas X strips, Chapstick, and a prefill prescription are the best things to have before going into surgery. After your released you should still have everything and include peppermint tea, benefiber, and shoulder packs for things to have for your at home recovery. Hope everything goes well and that you have an amazing lap band journey. Good Luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
