What does blenderized meat look like?

Recommended Posts

I will soon transition to a stage 1 mushie diet which is supposed to be the consistency of baby food. I see recommendations to put fish and meat in the blender with light mayo, etc... Honestly, I can't imagine what this is supposed to look like? I also wonder how is it going to taste? Will it be liquified or merely processed into very small pieces? I'd like to hear from some of you have passed through this stage. I don't know what I'm going to eat!

My 'recipe' (and I use the term loosely) book for my postop diet included a blendered cheeseburger. Put half a hamburger bun, the burger and all the Condiments you want into a blender and then blend with some beef broth until it's the right consistency.

Blech. I just drank Protein Shakes through the puree and mushie period but then I was lucky. My doc only made me stay on each phase of the postop diet for 2-3 days at each phase.

Oh, what does it look like? Take a trip down the baby food aisle of the supermarket and pick up a bottle of 'beef'. Looks like someone ate a steak, swallowed it and threw it back up.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
