Is anybody wearing a tummy band for support?

Recommended Posts

I was talking to my sister who recently had a C-section and she asked me if I wanted to use one of her tummy binders for post op for paint support and gas reduction. I was like a what?? My doc never mentioned one. She said TRY IT! I did OMG I am 9 days post op and feel almost back to normal and I only wore it for a day and 1 night so far. =) WOW. I am not walking slow anymore, and hell there is a lil skip back in my step.

I can tell you right now. Go to a pharmacy and buy a tummy binder. It makes you heal faster and helps with gas and overall pain. I got my surgery on a tues and was back at work on Monday. sleeping with my Binder makes me sleep like a baby. I no longer wake up because i accidentally tuned on my side and had instant pain. Last night I slept on my tummy and woek up happy! Best part is that it protect u from PORT PAIN. I can now where my jeans and real waisted pants to work. Thank god! GOOO GET ONE! =)

I wear one when I work out. Then my droopy skin from my lower belly doesn't flop around. It makes me sweat more too.

At 9 days post-op most people feel back to normal anyway so the support band may not have helped as much as you think or maybe it did, who knows. Glad you're feeling better either way!

I was having pretty bad lower abdominal pain for last couple of days. I ran out of pain meds and was waking in pain. I was afraid i pulled something or gave myself a hernia or something (lost of horros ran thru my head). But since wearing the binder it is better. I take it off and there is the pain again. Not sure what it is. Its about 9 inches to the left of my belly button. Feels like something is tore.

I'm gonna go get one and try it. I recently began experienceing a slight pain around my band when I walk... I have had it since DEC 4th and have always been able to feel it with my fingers and the last few days I have had to kinda hold my tummy/band area when I walk which is weird. Plus since only three people know about my WLS, I don't want to draw attention and have people asking questions... I will post back my results....

you can get them at pharmacy supply store or just order online if u cant find. I was wearing my sisters band she got at a pregnancy store. I bought my own this morning at a mom and pop pharmacy store. it is a little more ridid then the post preggers binder. But it is actually helping my back too. lol

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
