I don't know a lot about MS but my understanding is that there is no one definitive test that shows, yes, this is MS. It's usually diagnosed based on symptoms and ruling out other conditions through testing.

You should definitely tell your doctor about this and the lesion on your brain and your migrane. Any of this could affect your ability to have surgery and recover well.

Good luck.

Hi,

I have MS. Got my first lapband in Jan. '04 and was diagnosed with MS in Oct. '05. You should definitely tell you surgeon about the suspicion. Your anesthesiologist would want to know as well. If someone's cutting you open, they should know EVERYTHING about your medical history.

My lapband and MS don't have much to do with each other. The MS causes me terrible fatigue, so much so that many days I can't even function. So exercise is virtually impossible for me. Plus I have the overheating issue. The second poster was wrong about diagnostic testing. MS can be diagnosed by MRI and lumbar puncture. Make sure you get with a good neurologist who KNOWS MS. Believe me, some don't!

Best of luck in your lapband journey and I hope it turns out you don't have MS. It has made my life hell and turned it upside down!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
