HOPEful about first fill....???

Recommended Posts

I'm nearly 7 weeks out and WHITE KNUCKLING like crazy!!! I posted something similar to this in the "Fills" forum, but I thought this forum might geta little more feedback.

I haven't had a fill yet. I'm back to normal foods, trying my hardest to eat appropriate types and portions, but I"m SO HUNGRY. I've pretty much been in Bandster Hell since about day 2 post op, but this is BAD.

I understand that my surgeon is pretty generous when it comes to fills, and that makes me very happy. I get my first fill on Monday, and I'm seriously hoping it will knock the edge off this hunger. I really didn't get the lap band so I could diet or restrict or deprive myself for the rest of my life...and I'm really hoping the first fill will help, at least a little. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I was banded 11/25 and just had my first fill last week so I feel your pain. I got 3.5ccs in my 10cc band and felt neer nothing all week. I go back again on Monday for fill #2 so I am more hopefull the second time around. The only thing I reall FEEL now is if I eat too fast I will get stuck and it hurts like HELL. I have not been able to have that full/satisfied feeling ... YET!

I go Tuesday for my first (surgery date 12/16) and I'm SOOOO hoping it will at least take the edge off and decrease my hunger...I'm not expecting a miracle and to have it perfect this very first time (though it WOULD be nice) but I'm hoping I can at least feel something with this fill....anxiously awaiting!

I'm having my first fill on Monday. I was banded on Nov 28 in Tijuana. The weight is coming off and I hope the fill will make it easier to lose. How does it feel getting the fill? does it hurt, any side affects.

Some people do get restriction after each fill, even if it's only temporary, due to swelling. I never did.

I had a 3cc fill at 4 weeks post and felt nothing. Two weeks later I had another 3 cc fill. Again, nothing. I went in a week later so they could pull the Fluid out and make sure I didn't have a leak, but since there really was 6 cc in the band and I felt nothing, they stuck another 2 cc in. Bingo. At 8 cc I could only drink Protein shakes...nothing solid. So they took 1 cc out.

I was banded 12/22 and I know I have another 3 weeks before I can get a fill. I am hungry and doing my best not to eat anything that will make me gain any of the weight I lost back. But I have been stuck at this weight for a week now.

I do feel full after I eat but it doesn't last as long as I would like.

I was banded on 10/27/09 and had my first fill just before Christmas. It really did nothing for me. I am still having a hard time with the hunger. I go in for another fill at the end of this month and hope that helps, but I do understand that it may take several fills before one hits the 'sweet' spot so I am being patient and doing my best to stay on track. I have lost 20 pounds since the surgery and am happy with that. Be patient is my only advice here and do the best you can to get through 'bandster hell'. Good luck to you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
