New to site Fill question

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 11/18/09 and had my first fill on Tuesday the 29th. I got 4cc's. Since then, I have not been able to keep anything down. The day of the fill I was ok. I could drink just fine. My doc has me on 2 days of liquid and 2 days of puree then onto soft foods after a fill , so I didn't have a problem at the time. Well, since then I have been unable to keep anything down. I have been very burpy evertime I try to eat or drink and most of the time I my burbyness is a prelude to throwing up.

When I am not trying to eat or drink I am fine. I have had no issues with my saliva going down.

Does this mean I need to have some Fluid removed or am I experiencing swelling related to the fill? And will it get better in a few dasy after the swelling goes down? I really have no idea and of course we are on a holiday weekend so my doc isn't around.

Any ideas??????

You could still be swollen or you may be too tight - can't you call your doc's exchange and get some taken out...

I'm lucky I have my doc's cell # in case of an emergency

If you can't drink - then I would call immediately - you have to be able to drink liquids. If you can't call first thing tomorrow.. Pbing isn't good for your band..

Stick w/liquids till you get a hold of your doc..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
