Stretching Pouch....how easy?

Recommended Posts

I will be 2 weeks post op this wednesday. For the past two days I have been able to eat a small piece of catfish (chopped up, baked, chewed 30+ times) and then today I ate some chicken (baked, chopped up again, chewed 30+ times) I feel soooo incredibly guilty because I am not supposed to start foods like that until around 5 weeks postop. I am so scared I have stretched out my pouch or made my band slip by jumping to this phase so quickly. I have yet to feel nausious...i stop when I am full, and Ive been measuring out about 4-6 ounces like I am supposed to.

So my question is.....how do you know if youve stretched your pouch or your band has slipped? do you have to feel nauseous or vomit before youve actually filled your pouch up too much?

I have my 2 week checkup tomorrow and I am a nervous wreck.

Help

I just had my surgery 12/21 and was told by my doctor that band slippage would cause severe pain. So if you are not in severe pain, maybe there is no slippage. Good Luck on your doctor appointment.

While you should follow your doctors advice, there are many different approached by different doctors. Mine had me on mushies after a week then solids a week later. If you were seeing my doctor tomorrow, there would not be an issues, you would be on plan.

So I wouldn't worry about damage....

Good luck to you...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
