Hunny just try your best to get the fluid in, remember sip, sip, sip and as for the meds you are gonna have to break them or crush. The one that is time realed, Im not 100% sure but from my understanding your not subpose to take those, because they wont stay in the stomache long enough. Try propel water or gatorade. Dont worry about protein, dehydration needs to be your first concern. I sure hope you feel better soon. Welcome to the sleeve side. -
I can't seem to get in protein and water. I took my nightly medicine (pills) some wouldn't fo down and cane back up, some took too much water to get down. My sleeve itself hurts. Like a cramp it spasam. I've had a fever since surgery. Are all these common? Also haven't bee. Without a headache since right after surgery. I actually work this morning thinking I'm hungry. I've had about 4 oz of protein since surgery. I didn't get to sipbanything until 24 hours after surgery

Nausea 30 days post-op
kaytopaz replied to kaytopaz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you. I will try putting the Protein into my yogurt and see how that goes. I'm not really eating too much meat yet because I'm really just starting solids. Last week I was eating soft solids like tuna fish and canned chicken. I also don't understand why I can only eat 2 to 3 bites of food before I start having pains and feel like I'm full. And by bites I means half of a baby spoon size bites. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Question About Liquids
cuteNATL replied to cuteNATL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For my protein, I pour some premier protein over ice and sip.... It gets a little watered down when the ice melts, but that shouldn't change the amount of protein right? It takes forever for me to drink the protein but no time for me to sip on my snow cone ???? ???? ???? -
Chewable Protein Tablets
Jamie228 replied to Jamie228's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
if your liquid is too hot some Proteins won't dissolve properly and will turn into clumps that float on the top of the liquid (it reminds me of eggs, to be honest). unjury says to keep liquid temps below 140F, but I haven't found temperature recommendations on anything else Thank you! Most importantly make sure you get lots of protein, your diet is key to your hair loss, also of course take care of your hair and you cando coconut oil treatments , put it in your hair and leave it in overnight and wash out the next day and condition and you should always use professional shampoo especially if your hair is color treated! Good luck, hope this helps! Sent from my SM-G950U using BariatricPal mobile app

Found new protein.....
ppressey24 replied to ppressey24's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ordered the pure. It has no taste so i basically wanted it to add in other things to get the extra Protein. Now i was doing infusions for my chronic fatigue syndrome, ms, and my arthritis. But it didnt help but for a couple of days. I read where tumeric in the natural root or the Vitamin helps so i started with the vitamin, and thats all ive had now in 6 months. Im only 1 week post op and i no longer need that total replacement that i was looking at in april. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App -
Portion size 12 days post op
pinkbunies replied to suemag66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will find out when you start eating more and feel the restriction. Since you just had surgery not to long ago, you really won't be eating any large amounts of anything for a while, no matter how hungry you feel. I think it took me at least 6 to 8 months beforeI felt like I could eat a decent amount. Now I do well to eat a full chicken sandwich from Chick-Fil-a. Usually there is always some left. When my co-workers are with me, they don't order much food because they know I'm not going to finish everything and they have become accustomed to eating the rest lol. Yogurt is one of my favorite foods. I have honestly never tried cottage cheese. When I get a hunger craving now, I eat either yogurt or drink a boldthouse shake which has 32 grams of Protein in it. The shakes/smoothies have a lot of calories but its better than alternatives. -
Do i tell my co-workers or wait till the day before surgery??
Gaylebco replied to ChunkyAndFluffy75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have decided in my workplace to tell people, they have been supportative to me and for me and never change a thing! We have monthly birthday celebrations which always has goodies but we are sure to add veggies (this is for all of us and gives up better options at the parties) and such since any given day there is people who would rather have or want that instead. I'm glad to have their support and love and know so many are there for me if needed and will undestand why i suddenly choose not to participate in the "food fest" ...mostly I am not hurting my good friends feelings by not trying their fab new dessert, because she understands. I don't want them to change...and so far they have not. I guess i'm happier knowing they know and understand. I know we all dont have that kind of support at work, but i'm happy with my decision. -
Maybe some doubt

I was one of the very few people who was willing, ready and lets get this show on the road kinda gal. Most people are like you. I think that you are the norm not who I was at the time... This is an entire change for you. This is about you and the differences you are going to make for the good of yourself, friends and family. They are part of it and will share in it as well. People eat out all the time. They just choose wisely! Healthy and Protein first. If you are a quality diner you will have no problem. A taste of wine. No problem! That will be up to you. You will decide if it effects your goals or if you can handle it once in a while. -
Week One Liquids
redlove1446 replied to redlove1446's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the info Kindle! I love those tips. I'm surprised you found all the cream flavors! Lol Maybe I just don't pay enough attention to that section of the soup aisle. The drinkable yogurt sounds like a great option, as well. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! -
I had chicken broth, beef broth, Swanson's Mexican Tortilla Soup base, and Chinese hot and sour base. The last two are a little spicy so I diluted them with chicken broth. I added unjury unflavored Protein powder to all my broths to help with protein goals. I was able to do full liquids (not just clear) after 3 days and my nut highly recommended drinkable yogurt to help replace normal flora. At that point I also added every kind of cream soup I could find including asparagus, spinach, mushroom, shrimp, potato, tomato, lobster bisque, and leek. I diluted the Soups with Water or milk, strained out any lumps and added Unjury powder. I didn't worry about fat content because my calorie intake was so low anyways. Beside, we need fat in our diets for healthy cell production and Vitamin absorption. Good luck!

You got way more info than I did! I was only given a protein and water goal. No guidelines on carbs, sugar, calories, or fat. That being said, I have found that in meeting my protein goal, I don't have much room for carbs and maybe get 45-50 net carbs per day at 9 months out.

I have had a lot of sugar the last week. My weight has popped up a couple of pounds. In reality I was only 1 1/2 pounds over my lowest weight this morning... not 10 pounds like most other years. I can see how easy it has been to snack on all the goodies without any problem... if I kept it up I think i could really see the scales keep moving up up up... Thanks goodness for the sleeve... I left most of my food on the plate and want to be away from the sweets and back to protein and salad soon... get all the junk out. I am going to a party given my my binge party friends tomorrow... I am bringing a bunch of protein finger food... and veggie yummies. I hope this will keep my junk food eating to a minnimum. Plan ahead....write it all down afterward!

Too many calories?
NtvTxn replied to SuzanneRoupas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
.. Hi Suzanne!! Everyone is different, all I can tell you is when I was 4.5 weeks out, I was doing good if I got 400 calories in per day. I was worried but my labs have always been very good and the dietitian asked me how I felt and about my protein. She said do not worry unless I feel bad/weak etc. At six months I reached goal and was getting between 700 - 800. What I want to ask is this, what are you eating? I'm three years out and cannot eat a cup of food at a time. I am maintaining at between 1200 - 1350 per day, but to get that, I have several Snacks. I cannot get that much in with 3 meals. This all trial and error, if you aren't weighing and measuring your food, I recommend doing that, I still do it. Also, logging your food on line is great! These three things, along with weighing every morning first thing....I attribute to my success, it's made it pretty easy for me. -
Questions From Someone Considering Vsg
RickM replied to Finding Myself's topic in Food and Nutrition
Have you had a sleep study done, to see if you have sleep apnea? That could be your ticket to insurance coverage for a sleeve. I was in much the same boat as you - I had adopted the classic healthy lifestyle changes to drop a good part of my weight and maintain it, but couldn't get past a certain point due to the volume issue - good healthy diet except for the portions required for sataity. The sleeve works very well for us relative lightweights (BMI 42 to start here,) and if you already have decent dietary habits, you don't need to make overly radical changes to make the sleeve work - during the loss period you will be emphasizing Protein, but you can keep the remainder of your diet well balanced if that is your desire (it was mine,) rather than going to any special diets like the ultra low carb/ketosis diets that are popular now. Good luck, and welcome to the prospective club! -
Ok, I was sleeved on June 27th. I lost 13 pounds on the two week pre-diet. As of this morning, I'm down 35 total. However, I've been at that for the last week now. I had my two week check-up last week and was upgraded to the "mushy" diet. I can't figure out why I haven't lost anymore. The only thing that I can think why is that I'm not getting enough Protein and Water in my day. To be honest, I am doing the best that I can. I never was a water drinker throughout the day prior to surgery. I am having a real hard time with this. I am so tired of drinking that the thought almost makes me nauseous. I feel so bored with the things that I can have and sometimes I just plain don't want to eat or simply can't swallow anything more. The next thing is that I'm having trouble swallowing pills and Vitamins. I had always been able to take pills with no problem before surgery. Now, I just can't get them down. I've switched my vitamins from chewable ( made me gag!) to a regular multi, but I throw that up because of the size and taste. Is my lack if energy coming from these issues that I'm having? I went back to work this week after being off for two weeks. I barely made it through each day. I had to rest between clients and even had to come home a couple times and sleep and then go back and finish my day. Any advise would be appreciated!!! Feeling kinda down.

Weight loss stall...?
bellabloom replied to justmona's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In fitness and working out diet approaches, stalled are handled by shocking the body by a change. Either food or workout related or both. The body begins to get accustomed to the same thing and it starts to accumulate and work to conserve your weight because we are evolved to prevent weight loss. You can try dropping your carbs down. I'm not sure how many you eat but you could do a few days of very low carbs (below 30 grams ) and then a week or so of 50 grams. At the same time increase your Protein by ten grams a day. Add in weight training. Lifting weights works by increasing your metabolism all day long, biting calories while you do it, and adding muscle which means your body has to now permanently burn more calories to keep your weight the same. So your metabolism is faster and hotter. The perfect way to lose weight. Add in cardio but if your already doing it, either do it for longer or go harder at it. Also use intervals. Interval training in cardio, for instance walking two minutes, jogging one minute, running 30 seconds, repeat, is a huge boost for your metabolism. It's the best form of cardio you can do and also the easiest and fastest way to get it done. All of these things will shock your body and break your stall. And if you hit another, change again and your body will again break the stall. -
I had my surgery 11/18/14. My starting weight when I started my liquid diet was 299. For over a week I have been between 247-248 (fluctuating all week). I think it's because I'm not getting all my Water in, so I've been making sure I DO get it in. Also my Vitamins. Nothing changes. I've been trying to get all my vitamins and protein/carbs in (animal Protein is not easy to digest). I get about 600-700 calories a day. What am I doing wrong??

I am 3 1/2 months post op & had my 3rd fill this past week. I also had the "pleasure" of getting weighed (bleh). I seemed to have hit a plateau, no weight gain tho & only 1/2 lb loss in over a month. So, reviewing what has been going on & fearing the worse--that this surgery was in vain--I came up with this: 1) I stopped working out almost all of February 2) I was eating cheese (yay! a protein!) w/crackers (duh a carb) 3) Since I dont drink tea, coffee, crystal lite etc---I added fruit juice (hello sugars!) 4) Come on! a few pieces of chocolate arent that bad! right??? So after the weigh in, there was a class in the Dr's office. And I do believe the nurse was speaking directly to me!! The reminders of sticking to the diet, exercising etc. But what really hit home--she said to go back to the beginning & just do the 2 shakes a day & the protein. Soooooo.....I weighed myself today---down 3 lbs!!! Sometimes its the simplest, easy things you need to do. Keep it simple! Exercise & the diet plan--it really does work! I feel better than I have felt in a long time---I think also giving up diet coke made a huge difference in my stomach problems. Kinda funny how when I use whitening strips now, my teeth are getting whiter!! You just dont realize all that stuff you're putting in your body till you give it up & see a difference. I also believe Im having a mid life crisis---wanting to do all the things I felt self conscious of doing or couldnt because of my weight. So I made up list & a have so much going on & so much planned!! And a shout out to Groupon for some of the things I would never have found or thought to do! 2012 is awesome so far!!

Well since last wed when I was sleeved I've been staying at family house in case I needed help. I have basically run out of protein and ice pops. So the last two days Ive had a small cup (about 1/2 cup ) of sugar free Italian ices. Are they really any different than the ice pops? I know the pops have fewer calories but I needed something. This is the first day since my surgery that I am hungry. Tomorrow I'm going home so I have my shakes and ice pops to have. I hope I didn't screw up
