Glad Holidays are over !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am hoping the 5lb gain over the last week is a temporary thing! The scale fluctuates so much for me it is hard to tell. I have been eating more as I am no where near restriction. I only have 4cc's in a 10 cc band. I do feel some slight restriction at times so I am pray the next fill Feb 24th cinches me up tight!

Odd feeling after 1 year of being banded...not good
Since it has been a year and you haven't had any issues since, it almost sounds like a virus. Like maybe you caught something and it is causing swelling in your esophagus and now you can't eat a thing. I am so sorry, but I am so glad to hear you are headed to the Dr so he can fix you up. I hope it is something small and you feel better soon!

Lap-Bands and Airport Security
Here is what the scan actually looks like. It is a picture of the outside of the body underneath the clothes, so they can not detect anything inside such as the port and or the band. Lots of banders have said they have 0 issue flying even with the new scanners.

What is eating you???
I did see it. I watch that show ALL the time. She told the Dr she throws up 20 times a day. She would eat bowls full of sausage gravy and mashed potatoes with sticks of butter as well as ice cream sandwiches three at one time. She stated she was a binge eater her whole life she can't stop eating once she starts. So she would eat so much to where she had to throw it up. The Dr said her esophagus could rupture from the throwing up which is common in bulimia after excessive long period of vomiting. She had been doing it for 5 years. She ended up doing awesome she started to eat fruit and veggies and she said she allowed the band to work as it should. by end of taping she had lost 32 pounds!!! It was so great to watch her recover as she is so beautiful!

Muscle Milk
These shakes are great, I have never had a problem with them. They also sell them at Vitamin Shoppe for 24 a case of 12.

Can your port move?
I had my first fill 10-18 and when she did the fill it was one inch under my largest scar. NOW I can clearly feel it 2 inches ABOVE my largest scar. When you get fills do they fill the exact same spot every time or does it shift? I am aware it is sewn into the stomach wall so this is freaking me out! :wink2:

Nsv - go shopping!
Totally agree! I went Tuesday and ended up spending waayyy more than I intended. I had not shopped in forever and went from a 26/28 to 18 and 20. I am so excited and can't wait. I must say as I tried them all on and bought them all cause I loved em so much in the back of my head I thought what if I gain again....uggghh. Then I realized this isn't a diet this is my life and the band is permanent and my mind is set on the weight loss being permanent too!

Feeling full...
I was banded 6 weeks ago and until my first fill 10-18-10 I felt full below my sternum. Now that I have had a fill no matter what I eat or drink I feel full right behind my sternum and not in my belly. I was wondering if it is just me or if this is normal? It is very different than feeling full in your belly after eating a big meal before I was banded.:wink2:

After fills how many days do you stay on liquids?
My Dr stated 48 hours liquids and then mushies for a day. It was my first fill Monday and today I had scrambled eggs and so far so good. I feel full behind my breast bone not in my belly like before. Weird.

Worth the read
That article isn't band Bible, it is just the author's view point from her experience. I hear all the time from everyone that each of us are different and each journey is specific to each of us. So don't put too much emphasis on one article, do what is right for you and what your Dr advises. I have made myself crazy reading a millions posts and articles of the past 5 years and now being banded I realize my body is doing what it wants no matter what was published!:wink2:

Not drinking while eating??
My Dr and nutritionist advised the same. Before banded I would drink two glasses of diet soda or water while waiting for my meal and then one or two glasses during! So this is a huge transition for me! I will say I read on here not to have a glass at all in front of you when you eat and that has helped a lot. I love reading advice on here as it really does help!! It is something I am still struggling with myself so you are not alone.

Vitamin Water Zero
I had my fill Monday and took my vitamin water zero in with me to drink and the nutritionist said that the water ZERO is fine. The vitamins are synthetic as the article claims, but they are also in gummy vitamins or chewables. Anyway, the regular vitamin water is a HUGE no no, but the ZERO version is fine. Of course all natural H20 is the best

Do I need a lawyer?
That is a really good point ElfiePoo! I hate confrontation, but through a letter I can carefully speak my peace and present exactly what you said, it isn't my fault and I was totally fine. I will do this for sure! Thanks!

Do I need a lawyer?
Thank you all for the info. I went to the surgeon 1. for my first fill and 2. to discuss the liver biopsy results. The fill went perfect. Totally uneventful as she numbed me and I couldn't feel a thing. Also, I did discuss the biopsy results with the surgeon who did see my liver etc as BestyB suggested which was great! He assured me there was no mix up with the labs, however he has no explanation why the Path Labs came back with Low grade chronic hepatitis. ALL test results he reviewed with me all came back negative, viral, autoimmune and LFT's were normal, no fatty liver no cirrhosis etc....so he said he would call the Gastroenterologist and speak with him as well as a team they meet with monthly to discuss "special" cases. THANK YOU MrsFitand42 you are correct I was not looking at all to SUE anyone as redone tried to say in that post. I was merely looking to mitigate a 48 thousand dollar hospital stay as well as additional costs for MORE liver testing. I am satisfied totally and thrilled with my fill and Dr. I never had issues with them it was the hospital. BetsyB, they said a room was not clean so by the time I got to the room it was too late to evaluate me before I could leave. I will call the hospital to discuss, but fear I am stuck paying. THANKS ALL!

Does anyone REGRET getting banded and why?
Hi ElfiePoo, Sorry I am confused by your post. You stated you only lost 30 pounds and it has been almost a year, but your tickets says 102 lost...I think that is AWESOME. So do you mean 30 pounds since your last fill?

Do I need a lawyer?

Surgery is tommorow
You will do great and trust me, don't be nervous. I totally worked myself up for NOTHING! It was so easy and the nurses were all so nice as well! Before you know it you are awake and it is all weight loss history from there :puke:
-
flu shot
The nurse actually offered me one right after surgery. I declined as I typically get a cold or sickish after getting it. So I will wait to see my Primary and get it done.

First fill shock!
I haven't had a fill yet, but now I am scared. I go the 17th. What is the flourscopy and x-rays people were talking about. I wonder how my Dr. does it. Now I am so worried. Is the common fill just freeze spray then fill? I sure hope so :smile2:

Sept. 2010 Bandsters !!!
Hi Everyone! I was banded on 9-10-10 and can't believe it will be a month soon! Where does the time go? I am very happy, thankful and blessed that I finally did this. I have used this forum to help make decisions and learn each day! I am so happy everyone posts and replies as I feel only experience is the best answers :smile2: I'm 8 days away from "normal" food! Yes! My first fill is 10-17-10. I am nervous about that cause of all I have read about: no drinking, chewing, small portions etc...thank you everyone for all your info!!
