Bandsters Hell
It is great to know that I am not the only one feeling this way. I am always hungry and thinking about food since I do not have a fill. My first fill will be around Jan 24th, I dont know how I am going to survive. i dont want to gain the weight I have lost so far (15lbs) so I am sticking to the 1/2 cup rule as close as possible. Plus I have added walking in2 my daily routine. We can do this!. Good luck to you and your journey

1/2 cup of food
Thank you for the responses. They are very helpful.. I have until the 26th before I get my first fill. I hope I can make it..) I'm not quite sure how these doctors expect an adult to get enough nutrients in 1/2 cup of food...let alone assuage the hunger that you will inevitably have to deal with. I was fortunate enough to have a surgeon who also has a band so had personal experience in living with it. If you can do it...more power to you, I guess...but if you can't, then the next best thing is to eat a reasonable, balanced meal...3-4 oz of Protein, 1/2 cup vegies and 1/4 cup starches (if you're still hungry). If you find you're still hungry between meals because you aren't at your sweet spot, then eat a hard boiled egg, or an ounce of cheese, or some other type of protein. Even a low carb low cal protein shake is better than dropping into bad food habits. Bottom line - you need to make this work for you. .

1/2 cup of food
What other foods are you eating? 1/2 a cup of food is not satisfying me. My stomach growls so bad it hurts... Congratulations on your weight loss. quote name='hokiemama' timestamp='1294347528' post='1555893'] salad may not be the best choice for you, just starting on solids. My surgeon stresses to eat HIGH Protein as this biggest part of your meal and to eat it first. I am only allowed 1/2 cup as well. Even before my first fill, 1/2 of chicken salad, tuna salad, etc actually filled me up (for a while). I didn't try lettuce for a while and didn't have problems with it, but my surgeon says save veggies for last and to just eat a small portion of them. Protein has to be the majority to stay full and keep muscle. Solid Proteins should stay in the pouch longer and keep you from being hungry longer than salad will. Also, I'm learning that we can no longer look for feeling full so much. It's more about not being hungry. I can't even say satisfied, because many times I just want to eat more. But you should no longer be hungry after 1/2 cup. You can do it! Good Luck!!

4 weeks post op and eating alot
Just remember why you had the surgery in the first place.I am starving all of the time and want 2 cheat, But it sounds like you are over doing it. Slow down! Good luck, on your journey.. Hi everyone, I had my surgery 4 weeks ago and from 3 weeks in I was able to eat alot, probably almost, if not the same amount as before the surgery. My only real issue is with Pasta and soft bread but other than that I can eat what ever I want. I've also had a few beers and soda's although I can't drink them as fast as I used to. I lost about 15 pounds after the surgery however have gained about 6 back over the last week. Is this kind of restriction (or lack of) normal? And am I going to do any damage by not eating the prescribed diet to the letter? I don't want to shift the band. On another note, I get hungry all the time and need to eat regularly to stay satisfied and being hungry actually hurts more than it used to! Thanks

HONEST-Post Op Diet Success
To be honest: I am starting to have a hard time with the soft mushy food stage. I am hungry all of the time> My stomach growls that it hurts! I am starting to crave foods that are not good for me, (so far, so good havent eaten them), however for New Years I ate a little more than the 1/2 cup per meal. What can I do to stop all of the cravings until I get my first fill. I think I have 2 more weeks before I get my first fill.. So I know how you feel. I am not getting on a scale scared I havent lost but I have noticed a difference in my clothes.

If you are not hungry...
This is very helpful. I am 3 weeks out on mushy foods and I am still eating a 1/2 cup at each meal. I am not able to eat but maybe 1 cup of food a day. SO I dont know how many calories I get in a day.. I am trying to drink my protein shakes so I can atleast get the amount of protein I need. But I am concerned I am not loosing weight. So if you are still loosing, That is great! you are doing something right

I know how you feel. I ordered strawberry Sorbet and and an unflavored protein powder from unjury.com on Sunday and I got it today. The Strawberry Sorbet is good. Mixed it with 8 oz of Water and it taste like fruit punch. A big change from Chocolate... 20 grams of protein.. Enjoy!

I know how you feel. I am ten days out and found myself in the emergency on Christmas day. Christmas day! I was having tightness in my chest and hard time breathing, Scared me to death. Prayerfully everything was ok. I am saying this to say. It will get better. IT will pass. You just make sure you follow the doctors orders and when the pounds start falling off and your health improves, You will see! Hang in there!- Lap band removed! :(
Oh no! I am so horry to hear that. I heard that your port could flip, but never read or knew of anyone that this has happened to. Did they tell you what could have caused that to happen? I am curious to know.- Why, Why, Why???
