Lapband failure
Thank you all for your support and encouraging words. I could definetly do better with my choices of foods. I am in love with popcorn and I eat that for dinner just about every night. That is my weakness... I go in for another fill soon, hopefully I will be at the restriction I need to start loosing again. Thanks

Lapband failure
Have I failed the band or has the band failed me? I had my surgery on December 15,2010 and lost only 24lbs. I know that is 24 lbs I could not have lost with out the band but I am so discouraged. I go in for my 3rd fill at the end of the month. Please pray that this will do it for me. I am in bandster hell, I am still able to eat anything I want just in smaller portions. I was hoping I would have lost much more by now. It is just wonderful reading about everyone success, I pray that I will be able to post a success story soon. Please help!

How far apart do you get fills?
My doctors office do them every 4-6 weeks, but I opt for 6 weeks. I am going in for my 4th fill and I am still not at my restriction... Weight loss for me has been very slow

Advice -Not losing
It is very frustrating I know!. I am 4months out and cant get the weight to come off to save my life. But after reading all of the posts and knowing people that have had the surgery, I must be patient. The weight will come off.. So, just hang in there.. There is life at the end of the tunnel!

Discouraged
I am so discouraged. I cant believe that by eating less a person is still not able to loose weight.. I am strongly feeling that I should have had the Gastric bypass surgery instead.

Congratulatins, How many fills have you had so far?

I am 3 month!
I am in the same boat. 3 months out and lost only 20 pounds. I know everyone is telling us to be patient but I did expect to loose more weight by now. After saying that, keep up your good work. 10 pounds a month. that is awesome.

I agree... That is the frustrating part. I was hoping I was going to be one of the few people who got a restriction after the 2nd fll..But oh no.. I can still eat all the foods I like.. I am so ready to start loosing more weight.

Eating after the lap band
Very good advise. Can you please help me what types of food are you eating that helps you loose 1-2 pounds a week? I am struggling with this.. You had some good advice, but I think you shouldn't be so quick to discourage potential bandsters on the basis of their feeling like they couldn't possibly eat so little. I didn't think that I would be happy with 1 cup of food either. In fact, I think many people are surprised at how little they can eat and still feel satisfied once they have restriction. Also, the OP should know that the process of feeling satisfied on 1 cup of food is gradual and won't happen immediately after the surgery. It may take several months. In the meanwhile, during that time before you feel restricted to one cup, you should make a concerted effort to eat significantly less (and definitely much healthier) than you used to. The time before restriction is sometimes very difficult for bandsters (i.e. the "bandster hell" stage) who try to stick to 1 cup of food even before they feel satisfied with that amount. My pre-restriction stage was quite comfortable because I concentrated only on not over-eating (or not eating until I'm stuffed like I used to) and only eating a small treat 1-2 times a week, rather than trying to eat much less than what I then felt I needed. I never was hungry, but I still lost weight (slowly). Now that I've reached restriction (or very close to it), I can let the band do the rest of the work and I'm losing weight much more rapidly. But, you must first understand why you're at the weight you are and what your binging/over-eating triggers are, in order to find the best strategy of losing weight until restriction. Whatever you do, you must be consistent in order to consistently lose weight. Even before restriction, it doesn't take much to lose 1-2 pounds a week just by making tolerable but consistent changes in your daily eating habits.
