Port Site Pain
My port was very uncomfortable in the beginning and it was due to swelling. I was having spasms in the beginning too and my doctor said it was just the muscle trying to reject the port, and thankfully my muscle accepted it. It's so soon after your surgery. You still have a lot of healing to do. It'll be fine. Congrats on the surgery.

New in Cali
Welcome to the site Kity. I just turned 40 too. Being banded gave me a new lease on life as it will you. Congrats on the surgery date and let us know your progress.

How often do you weigh yourself?
I never weigh myself - only once a month when I go to the doctor. I seem to always get disappointed no matter what the scale says. I just go by the way my clothes fit.

Just banded - Bad Back Pain
I don't know what the back pain is but the tightness in your chest might very well be gas. Try taking lots of Gas-X and walk alot. See if that works. Have you called your doctor about your back? I hope you feel better.

Fills
I was covered for surgery, but I'm not covered for fills. They cost me $250 every time I go.

4 days from surgery
You're not whining. It's tough that first week. Your body has been through a lot and it takes time to heal. It is also normal to be hungry. Have you tried anything else besides jello and broth? Poached and scrambled eggs did wonders for me. I was starving 1 wk post op. Sorry I can't help you with the fungus. Did the doctor give you any medication for it?. Did he tell you what it's from? Hang in there, in a few days you'll be feeling much better.

First consult with Surgeon
It'll be your "rebirth". So Exciting! Congratulations and let us know how you're doing.

Chewing problem
I'm with you Maurdan. I can't chew that many times either, no matter how much I try. I mean really now, how many times can you chew a spoonful of scrambled eggs? I've learned not to stress over it. You can only do the best you can do. Certain foods will require a lot of chewing and others won't. Keep up the good work!

diet questions-phase 2-soft,mushy food
You shouldn't be calorie counting right now. You just have to make sure you get your proteins in and drink plenty of water. Don't worry about the calories.

having fill next Thursday
I lost 23lbs before my first fill and I had my second fill 2 wks ago. I feel more restricted and have definitely lost more weight. I won't know til I go back to the surgeon in Feb. You'll do fine. 22 lbs. is GREAT. Good job.

Band feels tighter now
The headache can be from not eating, the anesthesia or both. I've read on here a few people who have the same problem as you're having. Keep on liquids for a couple more days and just go slowly. If it doesn't get better, call your doctor. Congrats on the surgery!

My doc refered me to a Nutritionist now what?
My surgeon set me up with all the doctors I needed to see including the nutritionist. I only had to have 1 appt with her. The questions you ask are very good ones. Maybe you can pose them to your surgeon. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Just wanted to say hi
Don't get discouraged. For many people it takes 3,4, sometimes 5 fills for good restriction. You'll get there. Don't worry.

Lap band fills how much?
My insurance doesn't cover fills, so I pay $250 every time I go to my doctor.

Continuing swallowing hard? What is it?
Hey Cal, I was banded on 11/14 too. I have a 10-12cc band and my first fill was 3cc. Sounds to me like your eating too fast. I agree with Chubster - try eating slower and chew better.
-
How much water should I be drinking?
64 oz is correct. I must admit - I don't drink anywhere near that. BAD. You should sip slowly in the beginning especially to make sure how you handle it. Some people cannot gulp water anymore. I just had my first fill and I don't have a problem at all.

Sounds good, Fix it- cant eat it?!!
Sounds to me like you're still in the frame of mind as before the band - thinking about cooking delicious foods and eating it - being excited about it. Then when the time comes to eat it, it's not the same. I had the same thing happen to me the other day with steak. I used to love it before my band and when I went to eat it it just didn't do it for me. I actually felt depressed. It didn't smell the same, taste the same and actually turned me off. But you get over it. Try making smaller, less time consuming meals. Maybe that'll work.

Fluoro shows restriction but I don't feel it!
What size band do you have? Did the dr say why he won't give you any more fills? I'd be upset too if I were you but I wouldn't give up. Talk to the dr again and again until he listens.

not yet banded
Welcome! Feel free to ask any questions. You've come to the right place.

What is going on with me?
I haven't had that problem but it does sound to me like you are too full. Try having some removed. I've read here that maybe you should stay on liquids for a couple of days to give your stomach a chance to heal, even warm liquids. I would definitely go to the doctor before the weather does get bad.

Need Help
I've had cravings for spinach that I absolutely hated before my band. Strange, isn't it? The difference with me is that I love it now and can't get enough. Maybe you're just craving bread type foods, not actually biscuits.

Anxiety at dinner party
RE: such events become more of what they were meant to be all along, a SOCIAL occasion at which you can have a meal, rather than a MEAL occasion at which you have observers.... I never thought of it that way and you are definitely correct. I look forward to the day when I can feel that way too. Thanks Jack!

Severe Pain
It sounds like you're really in pain. More than just being uncomfortable. I too get discomfort sometimes around the port but not pain like you describe. I don't know what it could be but if it keeps up go back to the hospital and don't let those stupid doctors send you home with vicodin without doing more tests. Good luck.
