  1. Two more days to go! Morning of the 6th I will be banded! I am going to miss my coffee for a while...I think i might cheat tonight and have some icecream for old times sake...just one last time.....
  2. My surgery is scheduled for the 6th, and I gained 5 lbs last week....I am so scared that because my weight went up they will not do the surgery....as of right now, nothing but liquids until wed....I cannot exercise do to over exercising these past two days and causing blisters on my feet...I can barely walk....any sugestions? Anyone have a weight gain before surgery???
  3. I am going through the notions about telling people as well. I only told my parents, hubby and best friend, not even my siblings know. I figured that if everyone knew, they would be sitting around waiting to watch me lose weight. They wouldn't know what to expect. I have been dieting for two months and have lose about 15 lbs on my own, so that is my story and I am sticking to it. You cannot untell once you have told. Support is great, and there are tons of groups out there just for that. you are not alone....we all go through this...Good luck to you....NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS THIN FEELS!!!!
  4. I am getting banded October 6th!!! Only ten days to go!!! I am so excited!!!
  5. Hope the surgery went well...your numbers are the same as mine right now...i started at 232 and am down to 222...my surgery will be done on October 6th....let us all know how you are doing! Nancy
  6. Thanks, I have done tons of research, so I know that it will not be easy...this is not the easy way out!!!! It is going to be tons of work, but with this tool, I know that I can do it!
  7. My dad isn't on board either. I am 28 and weight 232. I know where you are coming from. Hang in there and do this for you and no one else. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels...so I have been told! I go in for surgery on the 6th. Start with replacing a meal a day with a protein shake. Syntrax makes a shake called Nectar, it is 0 carbs 0fat, and under 100 calories with 23 grams of protein. This will help you get losing. Good luck!
  8. I started my journey back on June 24. Once I went to the seminar and actually knew that I met the guidelines, I was full speed ahead. I had to have tons of testing, but i only took 48 hours to get the good word from the insurance company. I have BCBS through Noitu which is a local trade union, they normally suck, but tey approved me! I had a BMI of 41 with no other health problems. I am so excited. I would call your insurance first to see if they cover bariatric surgery. That is what I did. You can get the medical code from the lapband website. Good luck, let me know how it goes!
  9. I just got approval for my surgery, it has been a long road, but it is going to be well worth it. I have only told my husband, parents and my best friend. I am wondering if I should tell the rest of my family, or keep it to myself? Anyone else wondering about this?
  10. Just got the approval for my band to be put in place on October 6th! I am so excited! It is actually a reality for me now. I am a little nervous as well, but I am sure I will get over it! Anyone else getting banded on the 6th? I am going to Atlantic City for one last time hitting up the buffet next week, then onto my liquid diet. Not mandatory by my doctor, I already lost my 5%, but for my own sanity instead of just jumping into all liquid after surgery. WOO HOO for me!!!!
  11. The news just in is that I got approval for my surgery!!! October 6th here I come!!!! WOO HOO!!!!!
  12. I am new to this blog thing, but here goes...my story starts last year, I fell and broke my ankle, it actually snapped under my weight! I am in cronic pain from the fall, and if the weight comes off, maybe it would be better....My surgery is set for October 6th. I couldn't be more excited...I have been watching what I am eating and replacing two meals a day with protein shakes. So far I am down about 12 lbs...although I am tempted, I try to make it through the day with as little food as possible.( I will be taking a well needed trip to Atlantic City next week where I will hit upthe buffet one last time!) My husband is not supportive, when I say i am hungry, he tells me to eat, and I wanna kill him!!! I am hoping that after the surgery the hunger will subside! Today I got on my scale, by the way, is there really an accurate scale out there??? and it reads 221.6....I guess that isn't too bad. Could be and has been worse. I think that I havebecome obsessed with the scale. Even though I am losing weight, I am not seeing any difference in the way my body looks. Hopefully the first 3 weeks after surgery I can lose like 15 lbs...I wanna be super hot next spring!!!!
  13. My doctor says no smoking....period....i used to be a smoker, and the way i kicked the habit is when i stopped, I stopped cold turkey and I just had to tell myself when i felt the urge to smoke that this is as bad as the urge will get, if i give in now i will only have to go through this feeling again..do you really wanna relive the first few days of not smoking ever again? The answer for me was HELL NO!!!! I am smoke free for 4 years now!
  14. they have to call me the night before to tell me a time...it should be first thing in the morning....and I am so wanting a huge last day of all the crap I wanna eat, but I know that I can't....On sept 30 I will go to full liquid diet....lets see how that goes!!!
  15. Hey I am also getting banded on the 6th....so excited! Congrats!!!!
  16. So happy for you...I have my date of October 6th, all papers were submitted, now I just wait. I am pretty sure that they will approve me, but it sucks waiting for the yes to come through! So happy for you! Good luck, and if you are looking for a good shake, try Nectar shakes by Syntrax....that is what I use and they rock!
  17. I just got the date today! October 6th, I am soooo excited!!!!
  18. I am in, pre op, so it is gonna be tough...I wanna lose 12lbs by Halloween!
  19. Hi, I am concerned about getting approval through my insurance company. I am 28 with a BMI of 41. The thing is that I have no health problems. The only thing wrong with me besides beign morbidly obese is that June 2009 I fell down one step and broke my ankle in three places. Now I am full of plates and screws and cannot walk for any period of time, never mind trying to jump or walk on uneven ground. I think that a good weight loss might ease up on the ankle and better my quality of life. Nevermind the fact that my father was diagnosed with diabetes right before his 50th birthday and there is a long history of heart disease in the family. As well as my mother suffering from a major stroke at the age of 38. All this taken into consideration, I have choose to start my journey. Is there anyone else going through this? I feel that I am just too healthy for the insurance company....GO FIGURE! I guess only time will tell!
  20. HI, I am 28 and weight 225 right now...I am all done with testing and appointments...all i have to do now is meet with my dr on the 14th to schedule surgery and submit it to insurance. I am so nervous that they will deny it for some reason. I have done so much work to get here and now I am at the end of my first journey ready to start the next and all I can think is what if the insurance denies it??? I know that I can appeal, but that would suck....anyone else going through this?
  21. Personally I would not get any surgery in Mexico, just me, but by all means, do what will make you happy. I set up my surgery date in 2 weeks, and my husband was very against it in the beginning, but he is coming around. Good luck!
  22. I use the syntrax nectar...it has 0 fat and 0 carbs...it has 23g protein(remembering off the top of my head) and comes in great flavors. I use the vanilla bean, fuzzy naval and the strawberry kiwi. I buy the big tub from the vitamin shoppe. They have a return policy, if you try it and don't like it you can bring it back, no questions asked. Good luck!
  23. Great! I have to submit mine for approval....how long did it take for you to get the approval? And which insurance, if you don't mind me asking...I am so ready to get this done...I am starving!
