Looking To Get Lapband Surgery....again!!!
Ok so i had my first lap band surgery on october 6 2010.....I had my port flip.....had it surgically corrected, then the band got infected and had to be removed.....This all happened by december of 2010.....I think I may be nuts, but I am going to meet with my dr on friday to see if he will give it another go! I was doing very well with the band....I was following the diet and had lost almost 40lbs......but now i am right back to where i started! I know that th band wasnt easy....I worked my ass of for that 40 lbs.....I promised myself that i would never be back at this weight again, and here I am.....I lose sleep over my weight....I am a 29 year old mom of five and have been married to my hubby for almost 7 years.....he is going to go with me to the dr on friday....he is against the surgery the second time as he had to watch me endure the first three surgeries and all the recovery time....never min the depression that followed......but he said that he will be supportive as he can be.....he knows that i am unhappy with my current weight....I have been going to the gym, but now with the colder weather, my ankle is killing me from where i broke it and had surgery on it a few years back.....so I am just down and out!!!! I am praying that my insurance will pay for this surgery the second time around.....I am not telling anyone this time either....I dont need any of the negative comments about how it didnt work out well the first time!!!! Sometimes i just wanna scream!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lap band removed! :(
No I don't think that I would do it again. Yes, it was sucessful while it lasted, but I cannot see putting my body, mind, and family through all of these surgeries again.

Needle wouldn't penetrate port for a fill
I had the same thingn happen....I was banded on october 6th of this year and was unable to get a fill....they also heard that clicking sound, not a good thing! They did the port revision on december 2nd and everything was fine, then i developed an infection at the port site and I had the whole system removed on december 20. These things happen...it sucks, but this is life!

Lap band removed! :(
It seems as though the infection came from my second fill. Somehow the port became infected and the antibiotics were not enough to heal it, so it had to be removed. Once part of the lap band system is infected, it is hard to keep the rest of it clear of infection. I had the option to try to leave the band in place and just remove the port, but to me it seemed pointless to have to go in for another surgery if it beame infected again. Nevermind the fact that the pain was unbearable. I couldn't move, sleep, do anything, all i could do is sip water and take the pain meds they were giving to me. So no more surgries for me...I can and will have to do this on my own now. The I told you so's from everyone really suck though!!!! I think that is the worst part:(

Lap band removed! :(
Ok, I was banded on october 6th of this year....my port flipped and I had it revised on december 2nd. I was doing great on my journey! I couldn't have been happier. Then, I had pain in my abdomin. Th pain started last saturday and continued through that monday morning. I drove myself to to dr office first thing on monday and they admitted me to the hospital. After 2 days of IV antibiotics, on Wednesday December 22, I had my band removed. It had become incredibly infected and the pain was so bad it was unbearable. Why did this happen to me??? I have done so much research and talked to so many people who have had this done, I really thought that it was right for me. So now what to do??? I cannot exercise dueto the fact that they left the wound open to drain, and now I am starving again! I am down about 35 lbs since the summer, I am still fat though! I guess we will give weight watchers a try again come the new year!

Outrageous Octobers 2010
I made the dr promise me that he will fill me when he fixes the port! I will have 5cc in a 10cc band...hoping for lots of restriction!

Outrageous Octobers 2010
I was banded on october 6th...including preop i have lost 26 lbs. Not bad...i went for my first fill 2 weeks ago and they said my port has flipped...I must have overdone it in the first few weeks and tore the stitches...so bk in for surgery this thursday...nothing but clear liquids after that! So hopefully the scale will start moving again, since I haven't had much of a weight loss since the first week post op....wish luck!

They couldnt fill me!!!!
For some reason they couldn't access my port!!! I am so frustrated!!! I have to see the doctor on Friday now...I hope it ws just the stupid nurse and the port didn't flip!!! OMG I am so frustrated!!! Anyone else go through this and what was the outcome?

Thanks everyone...I started exercising more and eating 3 small meals a day consisting of egg beaters, tuna, and veggies.....Maybe this will curb my hunger? I hope so...I can't wait for my fill!!!!

Is this normal?
I was extremely tired for about 12 days post op....once you start drinking mre fluids and taking your vitamin again, you get all the energy back. Good luck!

19 days post op....GAINED 2 LBS!!!!!!!!!
Fu@#$ng shoot me!....I gained 2 lbs...how is that possible....I havent been eating anything! I am so frustrated...and to think that I started this day out so good...I looked great in some clothes that used to be too tight! I think that I am getting a hang of this....
I finally feel like I am in control...2 days ago, I thought I was going to eat everythnig in the damn house! Back to basics! Protein shakes, vitamins and water! I still feel hunger, but it is manageable. I have been walking a whole lot more. I take three 20-30 minute walks a day, and I think that I am seeing a change in how my clothes fit! YAY! So I am day 15 post op and can't wait for this weight to come off. I feel better already and I am down 25 lbs since July! Not a ton of weight, but I will take it! The damn scale is stuck....that is the most frustrating part...I need to throw that damn thing in the garbage! Maybe I will! Today is going to be a good day!!!!:smile2:

Hunger has returned.
I am two weeksout from surgery adn I am hungry!!! I am trying to stick it out until monday when the dr said i can go to mushies, but damn i am hungry! The only thing keeping me from eating everything in the fridge is the fact that I don't wanna screw up my band! Today I stuck to liquids, just water and protein shakes, then at dinner I had cream of potato soup, but strained, so basically just the 1% milk broth...yummy! I will take what I can get....good luck to you...let me know how you are doing!
-
Help! I can't stop eating!
Today wasn't as bad...back to basics!!! Protein drinks for me...not much else!

Help! I can't stop eating!

Any bandsters from Yesterday 10/14/10
I am 9 days out and today was the first day I had to give in and eat something! I made a califlower puree...yummy! Only 1/2 cup, I ate most of it but was too full to finish! I am supposed to be all liquids for ten more days....(I don't see that happening) I have 3 incisions...one longer one and one short one both in the same area on my mid stomach and one up really high, right below my sternum. I too have no idea where my port is...I think that is a good thing though...I was so worried about it showing, thank god it doesn't! Best of luck to you!

2 days post-op
They told me to start walking as soon as the surgery was done...I think you will be fine being two days out...I was banded on the 6th...I feel totally fine now..as soon as the staples were removed the soreness subsided. I am on full liquids for 20 days...my dr is really strict! You were actually allowed to have a greek yogurt? Amazing how dr's differ! Hang in there!
