After first fill I'm so hungry!
You need to be on mushies so you do not over fill your pouch and split your stiches adhering your band to your stomach. You are what you eat so if you are eating high protien mushies and still drinking protien shakes, Soups, and juices you will not be hungry. If you are putting fluff with no nutrition in your body you will be more hungry. I have not maxed out 900 calories since I started and I am rarely hungry since I am careful to eat a lot of Protein.

Advice/help - please!
May I ask how many CC's are in your band? I have 3ccs and am getting a fill of 2ccs tomorrow and wanted to see how many you have that you are feeling tight. Thanks!

Week 3 Post Op Eating too much
I am 4 weeks post op. I was filled 3 cc on the operating table and have slight restriction. I have been counting calories for 2 weeks and never go over 900 and I have maintained the weight that I have lost and added to my loss. Count calories and restrict yourself even if your band is not restricted. I get a fill of 2 cc tomorrow!!!!

too little food
I am so bummed Haggis is in the stay away from catagory. It has always been my favorite......hehehe

too little food
I think you need more Protein............haha just kidding. This horse has been beaten. I do want to mention that doctors say no carbs because carbs can make you more hungry and hungry faster then protein and most really naughty junk foods are high in carbs and low in nutrients. If you give an inch to an obese addicted overeater they will take a mile and skew things how they see fit. Baked potatos are fine but maybe have one with some turkey meatloaf instead of 2! Everyone is acting like you said 2 bags of potato chips. It is important to focus on eating now for nutrition and less for pleasure now. Think about what you are putting in your body and make sure you are eating the right things to stay healthy, not get anemia, and keep your hair. Protein has a tendedncy to be high in Iron and good so you keep your hair and don't get hungry quickly. The whole point is MODERATION!! and be mindful of how your body is getting nutrients.

Half way to goal!
How long has it taken you?

Ok lets talk sleeping
I used a ton of pillows. The first 4 days I slept propped up and after that I slept on my side hugging a pillow so I did not accidentally go on my stomach. Lots of pilows is key.

COSTCO Rocks!!!
Oh yeah theuy also have Shrimp Scampi that you can eat without adding it to pasta and Tilapia fillets in a citris garlic pesto marinade. Most of the things do noy have too much sugar and are low in calories. It adds some zest to the usual boring options we have in order to stay on target.

I told my husband

4 day post op and running a fever
Were you sick before the surgery? Did you have a runny nose or cough?

Bras, Protein Shots and Tape
Slam the shot like it is tequila. I use it before my boot camp. I got mine at Target. Helps with ot getting hungry after work out. Let the tape stay on for at least 3 weeks then take it off if it dos not fall off. Wore a underwire bra obly when needed for the first month after surgery. Used tank top with shelf bra for the first month at home.

I don't get it? PIZZA??
I could eat ice cream, creamy yummy fatty soups, and french fries all day long but I shouldn't so I don't. I was on liquid for 3 weeks. You can split your stiches in the band. Just because you can does not mean you should. It is more of a mental wellness and control then a physical one.

Did your Dr. call you after the surgery?
got call from hospital one day after, call from doctor office 2 days after and call from nutritionist 5 days after.

COSTCO Rocks!!!
I just went to costco today and felt that I had died and gone to bariatric heaven. I picked up the following for my boring high protien diet.......... chicken Chipolte patties (just eat with cheese and salsa) Turkey Meatloaf in marinara sauce Chicken Spice Skewers Shrimp in a lime/garlic/cilantro marinade Chioban Greek Yogurt in a case Pork in Verde Sauce (only 160 calories and 27 G of Protein for 5oz!!) Blueberries I feel so good and like I can make it without cheating again! Yummy high protein food.

too little food
You need 60-70 grams of proitein a day. My doctor makes me take 2 Flinstone Vitamins a day and a Calcium pill. I on my own take an Iron pill every other day, a chewable Vitamin C, and 3 hair loss prevention pills. YOU are doing an awesome job with cutting back the food significantly but you will be less hungry if you eat more Protein. I carry beef jerkey around for random hunger attacks and one to two ounces helps. Protien is the key, once you unlock the door you will be satisfied and happy!

getting full fast
drink protein fruit drinks and protein soups. I only had one shake a day.
-
What do I do?
Go back to the diet you had the first 4 months of having the band. Just because you can eat more does not mean you should. Break the bad habits and wipe your board clean.
-
Caloric Intake???
am not exceeding 950 calories a day and I am consistantly losing weight. About one pound every 3-4 days. When I want to lose faster I have been doing a bootcamp 3x a week and on the off days I will only eat 600-700 calories. Listen to your doctor and not everyone else that has an opinion on what you should be doing. You are not on starvation mode.

Confused Re: Foods
White carbs are to an overweight person as alcohol is to an alcoholic. We all struggle to stay away from them but try or you may open Pandora's Box. Lose the weight first and get into good habits before you start eating pasta and bread.
-
What and how much do you eat?
Do not eat until you are totally full. Count your calories and do not go over 1200 calories even if you can eat more. Breakfast coffee and oatmeal or egg whites scrambled snack Protein fruit drink and a few peaces of beef jerkey lunch can of tuna or shrimp with coctail sauce or egg salad with crackers dinner one cup of turkey taco soup

Second Thoughts
I agree with ELCEE

Home from the hospital
Good luck. Stick to your doctor's plan. My doctor told me that your success with the lap band will be detemined with how well you follow the diet the first month. Stick to the plan and you will be a success.

Favorite foods since being banded?
funny, when I got to the turkey taco soup statement I left the board and googled it until I found a recipe. If I had just scrolled down I would have found it! Love the idea and will be making this ASAP. This board is making me hungry tonight. Yummy and healty options!!!
