  1. Okay, so I am about 2 1/2 weeks post op. I got the "okay" from the doctor to eat solids again. I'm allowed to eat anything in moderation except for rice, pastas, breads, etc. That news made me sad because of no carbs (which I am a CARBOHOLIC!) Anywho, I have been craving seafood. Yesterday and today I have had tons of crab dipped in lemon/salt/pepper. I went easy on the salt that's for sure. Doctor said it was good Protein and low in fat. I don't have cholesterol so I'm not so worried about that. It's just a craving-phase. Have you eaten seafood (if you're a seafood lover). The only thing I haven't eaten is raw oysters. I don't think it's a good idea yet.
  2. The day after surgery was the worst for me. I was in pain, was looking forward to taking the liquid pain meds every four hours. I could walk around (which helps tremendously), but as far as getting out of bed or getting up, I needed assistance from my husband. I don't know about others, but I had the full package of chest pains, sore neck, short of breath, and gas pains. All of them went away about a week post op. I didn't eat or drink very much at all. All I did was took my meds and slept all day. I hibernated for a good few days and it felt great. I'm a stay-at-home mom so there was no work to be missed. I was very sore the first two days, but that too, went away. I am about 2 1/2 weeks post op and running around doing everything I used to do. I was at 24 hour fitness today on the elliptical and burned 200 calories. Life is grand after the band...no pain no gain!! You'll be fine sweetie
  3. Oh no, I heard this was "Bandster Hell!" It's called that because without restriction, we'll be able to eat like we did before lap band. I'm two weeks post op and on to solids now. I don't wan to test the waters because I'm afraid I'll get caught in old bad habits! What are your portions looking like?
  4. Okay, let me just start off by saying.... I haven't gulped since I was banded two weeks ago, BUTTTTT... I am BEYOND tempted to! I have been timing my sips and made sure I don't take down too much, but seriously, how am I supposed to get my daily fluids with this sipping? My main question is, how many minutes do you wait in between sips of Water? I have read that many people still drink the same way they used to, but wouldn't that hurt the band? I'm just full of questions today! Thanks in advance for any help!
  5. Hi there! Okay let's start with the hunger issue. I have learned that you're not feeling hungry in the beginning stages after being banded because your stomach is still swollen. Some people start getting their appetite back a few days after or even a week or more. As for me, I didn't get my appetite back until the 9th-11th day, but even if I was drooling over something, I wouldn't even be able to eat 1/2 a cup of it. Burping is one of my biggies! I burp all the time! It seems like every time I drink or eat...I will let out a little burp. My doctor says it's fine and actually is good that I'm getting it out of my system. SOOO...you're fine I am a stomach sleeper, but haven't been able to do that in a while. However, I have been sleeping on my side and if it causes you minimal to no pain, but I don't see the problem...But right now since you have only been banded for a few days, I would recommend sleeping on your back until your port incision and is fully healed. I hope this helps!!
  6. I am on to mushies already, but have just been craving the juices of fruits. That's what my husband said too!!!! He said "don't make this spitting out fOod a habit because it can become a habit." My doctor said I can basically eat majority of foods if I chew it well enough.
  7. I am about 13 days post op and have been craving fruit like crazy! So i have been cutting up pineapples and pears and chewing them, sucking the juices of it and then spitting out the pulp. To me, it's a good snack and I get liquids.. Has anyone ever done this? Ps.. I don't like baby food fruit .
  8. I LOVVVEEEE raw oysters too! Good thing you brought this up.. I haven't thought about that. I don't see why you can't have it.
  9. My doctor said 6 weeks is the ideal time to get the first fill. I think this is what many others call BANDSTER HELL! hang in there
  10. Thank you, Bug! This is a place we seek refuge during our times of need. We are already around those who either don't understand how our lifestyles are and those who simply are nasty about us bandsters. We gotta stick together
  11. Don't beat yourself over it too much! Today I had some sausage egg mcmuffin from McDonalds and I have been kicking myself for it all day. And to make matters worse, my stomach is reminding me of my screw up....I haven't been able to eat much at all since breakfast at 9am today and I'm sad that I didn't control my temptation to not have some... We all go through it honey and I am so glad that you were able to reach out to us and not be ashamed. I'm sure some will judge us for this, but just gotta pick ourselves up and continue.
  12. Rachel, what is your eating like now? I'm trying to find healthy mushies to eat.. Mashed potatoes don't settle well with me..
  13. Okay, so I am 11 days post op and starting to seriously get my appetite back. Last night I noticed that I was actually hungry and ate my whole dinner of 1 scrambled egg and 1/2 cup of soft beef stew. This morning I had to run errands so I stopped by mcdonalds and got the oatmeal and one egg sausage mcmuffin for my daughter. I took two bites of her mcmuffin (excluding the muffin.. Only sausage and egg) and had about 1/4 cup of oatmeal and now I'm full. I'm just wondering what you ate 11 days post op and how much. I don't want to mess anything up but I'm also scared of over eating because I don't have restriction.
  14. I showered the next day after surgery. I didn't have any bandages, but instead I got my incisions "glued???" I don't know how to describe them. I'm sure you can shower, just don't face the shower with water running so much. Plus, it will clean off the bacteria!! Oh btw...my goal is 140 too. Yay us
  15. And Holy, I'm sorry to hear about your spouse's infidelity.....that is definitely a tough thing to go through. I wish you the best!
  16. Rebecca, let me start off by saying....WOW. That is amazing!! It takes alot of effort, work, determination and motivation to get where you are now. I think you have hit a plateau with your band and a fill for you would be the ideal thing. Since you will be getting your fill in a couple of weeks, I am sure that will jumpstart your weight loss again. I am sure you are a beautiful person inside, and now you're showing it on the outside. Heck, I'm sure you were a beautiful person on the outside even as the former-lap band you! Don't be depressed...as for the opposite sex, it's tough as it is to get to know guys and you'll have to face dilemmas with feelings and emotions regardless of size. You have come this far...and you can pick it right up with a smile on your face and some motivation. You are so close to your ultimate goal. I know you can do it!!
  17. Then you are certainly one of the lucky ones Congrats on your band.
  18. Great job and congrats!! keep up the good work and it's always so nice to see results. My family are noticing my weight loss and are so happy for me. I am happy for you and keep us posted!
  19. That's so good to hear honey! I am on my mushy stage now and just had some tofu....uhhhh...I think I didn't chew it well enough because now it feels STUCK. I'm not in pain, but there is discomfort. My doctor said I can eat anything that I can turn into liquid in my mouth by chewing too. But I'm sticking to yogurt, tofu, refried beans and eggs for now. Oh and I did treat myself to 1/8 of an avocado We are on our way girlly! And congrats on the weight loss. I'm down nearly 24 lbs since a few days before the surgery!! Keep me updated!
  20. I experienced that after my surgery too. Hang in there.. The gas pains are pretty bad but you can take gas x and it does help alot. It will get better! And just think... You are finally banded! Your amazing journey starts now!!!
  21. Omg princess!! I'm so sorry that you're in so much pain that makes me sad.. Can it be Tuesday for you already?!?! It's even hard for you to keep hydrated when you can hardly keep that down... Hang in there. Your suppOrt group is here!
  22. Thanks hon! Yeah, I totally know what you mean about having a homecooked meal compared to easy store bought stuff. Nothing compares to home stuff! Right now I'm 8 days post op and should be on to mushies soon.. That's what my doctor said. Hanging in there what are you eating now?
  23. Opps, I spelled your name wrong. "teekii" sorry typo! And another note .. Broth cubes have about 900mg of sodium. YIKES!
