So Upset :(
That sounds like my family too! They will gossip and spread it like there is no tomorrow. That is why.....my husband is the only one who knows ! I have been eating right, working out and people relate my weight loss with just that. I would understand if I were to drop ten pounds in a week and people start questioning. But thanks to the band, the weight loss is gradual and very natural. Next time.. I wouldn't share anything with anyone if you know that's their nature. It will all be okay Good luck !

Veterans
Elie is right . When people don't have issues or concerns, they don't typically visit this site often. I'm.sure there are a bunch of veterans out there don't worry about it . But it would be cool to hear from a few .

Suggestions for chewable vitamins (Calcium, Multi, and Vitamin D
I buy the Up&UP brand from Target for the chewable multivitamins. They actually taste really good! I take two gummies a day for complete daily recommendation. And then I take one B-12 complex from Trader Joe's as well as liquid calcium. You can find a big bottle of it at Costco.

Recent surgical patient worried about slippage
My doctor says that you will know if there's a slippage because you won't be able to keep anything down and there would be pain. You'll just know something isnt right. Furthermore, tomorrow is a new day like you said. Good luck

Calorie Counting VS Smaller Portion Sizes
I agree with Rachel.,,My nutritionist also told me to not focus on calories, but portion size instead. It is so hard because that's the first thing I look for is the calories! But portion control is very very important.

Concerned about Calories Intake..........
Yay for your weight loss success! I think you're not taking in enough calories. Initially after surgery, you're good with 600-700 calories a day because you're just consuming liquids and mushies. But it's hard to keep that calorie range once solid foods kick in. I use myfitnesspal app on my Android phone and it has helped me track what I eat. Protein is super important!! That's also fantastic that you are exercising. Looks like you're doing well with everything..keep it up !!!

How soon can I start working out?
I was walking around the house, at the malls, park, etc right after surgery. I felt like crap the first three to four days post surgery, but after that, things took a turn for the better. At two weeks, I was exercising at the gym on the treadmill and ellipticals. I would say, after your two-week post op appointment with your doctor, you should be okay. After six weeks, you can do ANYTHING your heart desires.

Do you prefer biking, or walking/hiking?
I would have to vote for hiking!!! I hiked yesterday in Laguna (CA) and it was amazing. I love nature trails. I don't really enjoy the heat at all, but all in all... it's one of my favorite things to do. Biking hurts my bottom and I would only consider running if someone was chasing me with a gun (ha ha..)

Just need to vent.....
Hi Slm2007, it's a good thing that you were able to vent. I'm sorry that you are going through a tough time, but baby steps to changing around routines will make a difference trust me. Are you working out? Maybe..try to bump up work out routines . I'm averaging a 1-2 lbs per week depending on how healthy I eat. The band will work for you. It will take some time. Best wishes!

removal of the lapband
First of all, let me just say what an amazing job you did to lose that 125 lbs. Way to go! That is so awesome As for getting your lapband removed, I honestly think it is your decision to make, BUT a second opinion from different doctors could help you decide. I personally have never even thought about removing my band because it took alot for me to even get it in the first place. As some people have stated in the above comments, weight gain is a possibility, but if you truly think you have full control of your eating habits and new lifestyle changes, then do what makes you happy In the end...negative comments or positive, you come first in your own happiness. Wish you the best of luck with whatever you choose!

Take progression photos of yourself
Omg, I do that too! I have been doing it since a week pre-op and man...I see a big difference. One thing I failed to do was wear the same clothes :/

Fill every two months?
My doctors office only does fills every two months too. I think they do that because they want to see how much you can lose within those two months with x- amount of fill. Good luck !

working out
I'm afraid to do strength training and working with weights because every time I do it, I build muscle so fast that I bulk up. I don't like to look like a bulky person. Question: should I just stick to 50 minutes on elliptical for a few months then slowly introduce my body to weights?

About how much food volume
Oh, I know how you feel ! When I am out and about without a packed snack, I go into panic mode. But its good that you chose to have a salad instead of nuggets! That's an awesome start. One problem I have is eating too fast. Sigh, still learning myself ! Good luck :0)

About how much food volume
Hi there, The McDonald's salads are pretty big. When I order their salads, I would only eat 1/3 of it and save the rest for later. Plus, salads don't really fill you up. Since you don't have any restriction yet, its understandable that you can eat without discomfort. But try practicing now and cutting back your portion sizes to a cup of food at each sitting. I had my first fill last week and I do fill restriction, but I know its not my "sweet spot" yet because I do still feel hungry sometimes. Hang in there :0) I hope this helps. So start off with 3 oz of lean meat, and 1/2 cup of veggies .

Husband hurt my feelings....
Gag! I am so sorry your husband said that to you! Men...what can ya do... Just a few days ago, after losing 30+ lbs, I was able to fit into a summer dress that I had previously bought two years ago. I was getting ready to go to my brother's graduation and my husband takes one look at me and goes, "UGH! Don't wear that to a graduation! All the high school boys are going to look at you. Can't you just put something more casual on...like old jeans and a t-shirt?" I gave him the evil eye. I think now that I am losing weight, he's insecure that I might get big headed and not want him anymore. It's cute in a way, but more so frustrating. Keep your head up girl!

Last hole on the belt!
CONGRATSS!!!! I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! I treated myself by buying a new dress last night for losing 30+ lbs :0) I think you deserve a shopping spreeeeee

first fill. YAY
I was banded on May 2nd 2011. My PA NUMBED me with a needle and it stung when she put it in. I would recommend being numbed because my PA WAS digging around for the port while the needle was in me and it wasn't a pleasant sight to see. And yes, I had to Sit up to drink Water while the needle was in and she added little by little until I was okay with the fill amount . Good luck with your fill!!!

Fills DO work, if YOU work with it.
I have 4.8cc in my band for my first fill. Today is the first day I'm allowed to eat soft solids after being on liquids for the first 24 hours, then graduating to mushies yesterday. We went to Olive Garden for my younger brother's graduation dinner and I ordered off the kids menu of chicken with broccoli. I had a few bites of the Zuppa Soup that came along with it (eating most of the kale in the soup instead of the potatoes) and barely took four bites before I was completely full and satisfied. Maybe it's my honeymoon stage, but I have tuned in with my body alot since surgery and I am learning so much about when to stop eating, when to eat, etc. I know fills will work if you give it time. And everyone is different...someone with the same amount of cc fill may not agree with me, but I'm just sharing a few positive thoughts for those who are curious about band fills. Happy Banding :0)
