What do I DO Now? Advice Wanted
Now that I have completed classes to prepare me for surgery, what can I do to get the rest of the weight off before the sleeve procedure? I have this edema issue with my ankles & feet; diurectics doesn't work. I only lost five pounds in the 12 weeks required. I want to lose at least 15 more. I no longer want to feel anymore discouraged about the weight not coming off from Water. I basically have six weeks and I know I can get it off, even if its just water weight. Thanks. Krys

Sleeve or BUST? Kaiser Options So Cal
Well Well it is over. 12 weeks of watching, logging and exercising and watering my body. I got my certificate. With this edema I didn't lose much, but according to what is still to happen, I have six more weeks if all goes as planned and surgery could be some time in November with Pacific Bariatric. All paper work has been with PB for a couple of weeks. The only thing I need is the authorization for my one day consult in San Diego. Once Kaiser finishes there reviews I could be on my way. I am truly excited.

Kaiser Permanente is Southern California
Hey Everyone It's been a minute and tonight is the last night of Options. Whewwwww!!!!! Signed the release for records form for Pacific Bariatric and waiting for authorization number from Kaiser to have the one day consult in San Diego. We were that if all goes well, surgery can be in exactly six weeks, which will be November 1. I sure hope so; in my case anyway. I hope everyone is doing great in whatever stage you are in, be it pre or post surgery.

Anyone had a problem getting as much time off as they want?
my two supplemental insurance pays for disability & hospital stay. however the doctor fills out the insurance papers and thats black and white. it is the doctor/surgeon discretion how long a patient is off; complications maybe? i had my gallbladder removed and was good the second week, but i was off six weeks.

Kaiser Permanente is Southern California
Hey Thin .... I will be finished with my Options class on September 20. Last week the case manager came in and spoke to the class as a whole and answer questions and gave us lots of info. I too am deciding to have my surgery at Pacific Bariatric. I went to the seminar last month. This past Thursday I finished my last labs and EKG and mail the medical history and copies of lab and ekg to Pacific Bariatric to get processed in there system. Now to my understanding, once you have completed Options, the instructor makes sure you have completed all your food and exercise logs (and you can also check by going to KP.org and looking under the "view past appointments"). After that the case manager will go over the file, checking that all labs, etc are completed before giving it to the doctor over the program. From there the case manager calls you to give you an authorization number and you use this number to contact PB in San Diego to set up your one day consult. I hope I helped a lil bit. I am with Kaiser Bellflower.

Syntha-6 (sharing)
Protein powder. I bought the strawberry Milkshake. The taste is wonderful just like real strawberries (milkshake). I bought from Lindberg Nutrition here in So Cal. There are two locations. For 28 days of 2 scoops for men and women 1 scoop may last longer for just one scoop a day. I use two to get 44g of protein.

1 month post-op sleevers
just curious? Now that you have been sleeved and you know this is the best decision you've made for your life, how are you mentally and emotionally. What are your family, friends, and co-workers saying, if you told them? Physically, are you feeling any different?

Tomorrow is SLEEVE DAY!
I posted to you PM; did not know you posted here how you made out. So happy to know you are doing well. The days will get better. How are the liquids going down now? Is there ever a time you feel hungry, only because you didn't remember to drink anything? Have you begun Protein yet? Overall, how does your body feel?

GNC Protein Powders
I use a product called Syntha-6. The flavor I get is Strawberry Milkshake. Just the smell of the powder makes you melt. I use skim milk to mix with. It actually taste like a milkshake.

450 pounds, 23 y old, TERRIFIED!
we all have our fears; understandably. but to hopefully re-assure you, a close friend of mine had the sleeve procedure a year ago August. her surgery date weight was 433 and she is now 270. she had many pre-surgery issues: diabetic, high blood pressure and edema to name a few. some meds have been cut or she's not taking any of some of them. i say the decision is up to you which month you have surgery. and only your doctor, basically , has the last decision if the surgery is right for you at this time. as for your cpap, be sure to use it every single night.

dance workout video/DVD recommendation
Do you all remember in the early 80's the :20 minute workout that came on TV? I believe it was channel 5 here in the Los Angeles area. Well the other night I found a website that no longer sold the tapes of it, but allows you to download for free. I downloaded it and have it on my laptop. When I use it, I just turn on my laptop and get to moving. I remember the days doing this every single morning. I was only 16/17 years, but I loved it and so glad I found it.

Kaiser So Cal --- I changed my
Boo, I knew when I typed it you were NOT coming wayyyyyyyy down here. If you know the doctors name who signs off your Options to referred you to your next steps, look his name up in the "clinical staff directory" of Kaiser's website (if this is the insurance you have) and type his name in and the name will come. Usually their picture is there and a lil something about them along with the icon mentioning accepting new patients. Lol. Good luck to you.
