  1. Does anyone have any good soup recipes? I am on the pre-op diet and I am sick of Campbells soup!
  2. Day 7 of pre-op underway...Its hard to believe that in less than 4 days, I'll already be banded! The diet was hard the first couple days, but has gotten MUCH easier these past few days. It's all worth it in the long run. Hope everyone is having a great day!
  3. Rebecca, Thanks for the recipes! Hard to believe we only have 4 more days!!!
  4. Day 3 of 10 on the pre-op diet....not so bad now, the hunger pains have subsided. I woke up with some congestion and a sore throat, so I'm off to the PCP to hopefully stave off any problems since I'm being banded a week from tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great day! Hang in there, keep your chins up...September is coming sooner than we think!!!
  5. Day 1 of preop diet almost done....I'm hungry, but surviving. I've had a half cup of yogurt, some sugar free jello, a fudgesicle and 2 protein shakes. Planning on some broth for supper. I've met my protein requirement for the day....so tonight is gonna be all freebies (broth and sugar free jello or popsicles again). Ten days of liquids....this too shall pass!!!
  6. I'm also on 9/2/10....and I got the graphic too, sooooo cute!!!
  7. Shay, what part of OK are you from, who was your surgeon?
  8. Welcome to all the newbies on our thread!!! I am so glad to see how many responses we've gotten, and how many of us are all going through the ropes at the same time. It's going to be tough, but we can all make it with a lot of faith, hard work and support for each other. I had my final nutrition consult, and met with the office RN for an overview of the hospital and how the stay works, and tomorrow I meet with my surgeon to sign consents, have labs drawn and to finalize all the plans....then its off to pre-op diet land on Monday. Wow...2 weeks from tomorrow will be here sooner than I thought!!! I can't wait! Best wishes too all you September Sweeties waiting to be banded this month too!!!
  9. My insurance company is Waterstone Benefit Administrators who work on behalf of PPO Oklahoma. I think the reason my approval went through so fast is because I work for the hospital system that I am having my surgery done in. It only took 6 days from submission to approval. I think I was one of the luckier ones!
  10. My surgeon does a liquid diet for 10 days...depletes the glycogen stores in the liver shrinking it out of the way to prevent injury during the surgery.
  11. You didn't mess up a thing...we talked at the first about how there's a 10 year range in all of our ages, you're right smack in the middle....glad to have you with us!!!
  12. I start my diet on Monday...we can "eat" any cream soups, cottage cheese, jello, popsicles...and of course protein supplements. It's all liquid which doesn't make me too happy, but anything to get this thing done. I am so ready!
  13. We have the same band date! I am so excited, but I don't have to start my diet until Monday. He only requires a 10 day liquid diet. Good luck to you!
  14. My name is Erin - and I'm about 20 miles south of Oklahoma City.
  15. Wow, that's reallly cool that we're all the same age range! We need to pull together and get through this together!
  16. I just got home from my surgeon's office, and my surgery will be Sept. 2nd, 2010. I thought maybe we could all get together and try to support eachother through the dreaded pre-op diet and all the pre-op nervousness that goes along with being banded. Hope to hear from you soon!
  17. I attended the seminar the end of May 2010...then underwent all my pre-op testing thru June and July. One thing that my insurance doesn't require is a 6 month med supervised diet. I guess I'm lucky in that area. My insurance called and approved today, and I have my pre-op appointment tomorrow. So all in all, about 3 months....its well worth it though!!!
  18. Just got the call an hour ago, our insurance approved!!! I have my pre-op appointment in the morning. I can't wait, its just a matter of days now!!!
  19. I do too! I would love any and all support I can get! I go for my pre-op appointment on Tuesday (8/17), then get my date! I can't wait!!! Hopefully I can figure out how to use the messenger dealie! LOL Erin PIN 218A321D
  20. Bless your heart, no wonder you're starving. My doc requires 30-50 grams of protein daily during the pre-op liquid diet. You need the protein to stay full, it digests slower than the other stuff. You might call your doc and ask if a higher protein shake would be okay during your diet.
  21. Yep, I start mine on Tuesday....10 days of a full liquid diet. I have been dreading it, but I am sure ready to have the surgery done. I noticed you're a nurse...how long are you taking off work? I too am a nurse, and just wondered what your doc said about lifting/working after surgery.
  22. I have my preop appt on Tuesday, then begins the 10 day liquid diet. So we're looking at a surgery date of 8/27. I am nervous and scared, but excited all at the same time! Anyone else looking at going around the same time as me? Are you all as nervous as I am? What are you all doing for your pre-op diet? url=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wIICSTw/] [/url] Seminar Date: 5/30/10 Support Group: 7/3/10 Insurance approval: 8/9/10 Pre-op Consult: 8/17/10 Surgery date: 8/27/10
  23. I should have started posting sooner, but I have finished everything my doc has required, and am now just waiting for my pre-op consult and surgery date. I can't wait!!! I have an appt to see him on 8/17, which should be the day I start my pre-op diet meaning surgery somewhere around the 27th. What are everyone's thoughts and feelings about life after surgery? Is it worth it???
