  1. I just gotta say a quick hello, then off to celebrate OU's win over Texas today...hope everyone is doing well. Boomer Sooner!!!
  2. Had my first fill on Monday...boy has this week been a change. I have had a couple episodes of things getting stuck. Not only that, but I'm so much tighter in the mornings than at night. I barely eat now, my poor husband is so sad. He said he feels bad because he feels like I don't eat at all now. I just keep reminding him of the good that is coming. Off to work tomorrow, then off for the weekend and lots of grocery shopping to do. Have a good Friday everyone!
  3. I'm an OB/Gyn RN and yes! It matters!!! If you want the safest procedure possible, the implanon needs to go. Your surgeon is being very safe and smart in this matter.
  4. Hey everyone, I hope you have all had a great week. At first I thought I was too tight, but now that the swelling from the fill has subsided, I'm pretty good. I can eat just a very small amount of food, then I'm satisfied. My poor husband is figuring out that I pass all my leftovers to him and my oldest daughter! LOL...better them than me! Good luck to all being banded tomorrow, we have quite a group of September bandsters! I hope this finds all of you doing well, talk again soon!

  6. I went in for my first fill yesterday, and they did it under fluoroscopy. I got 5cc in a 14cc band, but now it seems that every time I eat, I'm nauseated for about 30 minutes afterward. Is that normal?!?! I haven't thrown up or PB'd, but I feel like I could after I eat. Has anyone else experienced that?
  7. Finally got some time off from the baby boom to come talk to my fellow bandsters. I just got home from my first fill. They did it under fluoroscopy, and it was really pretty cool to watch. I was taken back, gowned and prepped, he numbed it with lidocaine and then accessed the port. The lidocaine burned, but the big needle didn't hurt a bit after that. After the port was accessed, he sat me up and they pulled the big x-ray machine over. I could see my band with the fluoro, then he had me take a big mouthful of contrast. Once I swallowed it, my esophagus and stomach turned dark, then he tightened it up by watching how fast the contrast went through. I got 5cc for my first fill! So now its liquids for the rest of today, then I can slowly start moving back up to solids. Hope all of you are doing well!!!
  8. My fee was $300...I think you should rethink your surgeon. That's a helluva lot of money!
  9. In the hospital I always gave it with a small bite of applesauce or pudding. They still taste bitter no matter what you mix them with!
  10. Thanks to all of you who gave me moral support last night...I really appreciate it! I just took some time snuggling with my hubs and watching some TV. You guys are the best, love you all!
  11. Ok guys, I'm feeling the major need to vent. Last night proved to be the biggest trial of my banded life. For those of you who don't know much about me, I'm a 29 y/o labor and delivery RN. I've done L&D for the past 8 years. Most of the time, L&D is the happiest place in the entire hospital to work. The rest of the time, it's the most awful place on earth. Well, yesterday was the rest of the time. I work in a unit that stays pretty busy in the Oklahoma City metro area. On top of our regular scheduled procedures (inductions and c-sections) we have lots of walk-in traffic for various complaints. Yesterday about 1pm, we had a mother come in who was VERY premature...she ended up delivering a tiny, very early baby girl. This baby was such a fighter, she made it through the delivery, but we have no idea if she will make it very long term. Now to where this affects me being banded. Usually on days like yesterday when something so stressful happens, I turned to food. That's all I could think about last night when I got home. I had a major meltdown, the coping mechanism that I've always used to get by is gone. I laid in bed sobbing...not sure how to deal with the stress from yesterday, but from the stress of not being able to deal the way I was used to handling things. Have any of you already banded bandsters experienced anything like this? I LOVE my job, but the few and far between times like this are extremely hard to handle. Thanks guys for allowing me the time to vent, I had to get that stuff off my chest, I felt like I was about to explode!!! Good luck to those of you being banded today!!! I wish you safe and speedy recovery!
  12. As far as being in bandster hell, I'm right there with you! I've been eating more than I should, but chewing and chewing and chewing some more. I get my first fill a week from Monday thank goodness...I have zero will power, that's always been my problem. I will keep you in my thoughts, maybe we can coach eachother thru this tough couple weeks!
  13. Pacific brand soups are wonderful! Try them
  14. Cathy, Glad to hear you're ok! Hope you guys didn't get much structural damage with the lightning strike. We've had some pretty bad storms here (in OK) the past week too, but mostly just large hail. Do they do your fills under fluoroscopy? When I went for my postop appt, they asked me today if I wanted mine done under fluoro saying that it helps to get the sweet spot faster. Thanks! Erin
  15. If you cut the pop all together, you'll be amazed at how much better you feel! I took a drink of coke about a month ago and couldn't believe how gross it tasted to me. Good luck with the quitting pop and smoking - two vices that I had as well. I did both cold turkey and it seemed to work the best. Chantix gave me horrible nightmares even though my insurance paid for it, i couldn't handle it. I will keep ya in my thoughts :crying:
  16. Hey everyone! Wow, yesterday was my first day back at work and let me tell ya, that 12 hour shift about kicked my tail! We delivered I can't even remember how many babies, and then at the end of the shift when it was time to go home....a floor above us caught fire, so the entire hospital went on lockdown. They wouldn't let us leave, and we were all soooo tired!!! Thank goodness we finally figured out a way to get out without getting caught. Then I came home and slept for about 12 hours too. Good luck to all those being banded this week, I hope you all have a great experience and a speedy painless recovery!
  17. Oh absolutely, and I think that's part of the problem. Our date nights have changed from going to a nice restaurant to just being at home so I can have my liquids. I'm sure I'm worrying about nothing, that seems to be my middle name.
  18. Hey guys....I need to vent, and figured this was a better place to do it than to my hubby since the problems I'm having this week center around him. Have any of you guys experienced a change in your relationship since the surgery? At first I thought he was very supportive, and now, I'm getting the feeling like he never wanted me to have this done to begin with. I mean I still cook dinner for him and the kids, its not like I've slacked off on the cooking/housework. I just feel like he's pulled away from me. And it all started about 10 days ago (the day after I came home). Now I'm going back to work (at least 4 12 hr days a week) so that means I'll be away a lot, and I'm thinking it will only make things worse. I know they say relationships change with WLS, but I never imagined it would happen so soon.
  19. Good Monday all! I hope this finds everyone doing well. I start back to work tomorrow, so I'm sure that my posts will drop in number after today. Best wishes to lillyegg, debrarh, ready4change10, CalaCake, bandalley, RN.Violet, SarahMarie123, glitteryvampiregirl, ConB113, lovemysgt...I hope you all have a speedy recovery!
  20. Hey there! I too fought off a sinus infection within a week of surgery. Took a full round of antibiotics and Tylenol and the works. Not to mention immodium for the big D!!! I hope your doc gives you the go ahead, I just had to be without fever for three days before surgery. I will keep you in prayer to get well soon!
  21. My incisions were covered with steri-strips, and I was told to leave them be until they fell off on their own. If they used a liquid bandage, I would just leave it. You're only a couple days post-op, that skin could still separate and cause you problems. My doc has an answering service that pages him when patients have questions...have you tried calling the office number to see if your doc has something like that?
  22. I am soooooo tired of drinking this sweet milky crap. Surely there's something out there that is high in protein that doesn't taste like a milkshake? I am just over a week post-op and still have a whole week of liquids to go. Any suggestions?!?!
  23. I'm down 15 lb and am post-op one week and one day. I haven't gotten a fill, and won't for at least another month. I just hope that I keep up the pace that I've started with! Congrats to you for losing so much so quickly!
  24. Congrats Rebecca on your loss! We are both celebrating today, I'm down 15lb
  25. Hahaha I thought the same thing, I had a couple bites of cheese and a bite of a YUMMY hamburger when I did my pre-op diet, but I still got banded a week ago.
