The past week has been very hard for me. I stopped losing weight and I was worried I wouldn't lose anymore. So long story short I got very depressed which I have had problems with depression. Well today I was on the highway and four cars in front of me wrecked and two of the cars came sliding towards me and some how I moved just the right way. Honestly I have no idea how I did it and the way the cars were coming my car would have flipped over a bridge. ( no one was injured) but I had the realization that life is precious and I'm only 3 weeks out of surgery and I have a lifetime left.

I was sleeved end of July so I am 8 months. I started loosing strands at 4 months. It started slowing at 7 months and now at 8 months it has stopped. I have baby hairs growing in. Please don't stress your self about it. I had a lot come out but I kept telling myself it's only temporary. I figured worrying about could make it worse. So I pulled it back a lot. I also tried to not wash it daily because the combing out would pull it and more would come out. I used to be a hair dresser and remembered things to help avoid tugging and breaking by using a soft brush. The old fashion kind like the vanity brushes that sit on the vanity tables from the 1940's. That brush and shampooing 2 times a week helped .

Oh yes, it will grow back. I lost from months 6 to 10, then it started to come back. I am close to 3 years post and you would have never guessed I had that little episode in my life.

To me the food kind of felt heavy. My first food was a scrambled egg and I could only eat half of it. I had the best luck with yogurt and still do. I get a little nauseated every time I eat but it only lasts about 10-15 mins. I haven't had any pain.

On the third week..I could eat soft foods. It was difficult for me to keep food down. I had to stay on soft food longer than what was recommended. I was in no rush..I was patient to go from one stage to another. After 6 weeks ..I was healed enough to eat anything that was one my food protocol. Don't rush the process. If u have a little difficulty in one stage.. Stay there before u move on to another stage. I.. Call your dr if you cannot progress at all to another stage.

Hi everyone, I signed up awhile back but today is my first time posting. I had the sleeve on Mar 6 so today starts my 5th week. So far so good, I have followed my surgeon and dietitians guides exactly and no sickness or dumping. I'm going to hope it stays that way. I look forward to talking to you all throughout our journeys.

I thought I posted something earlier today but my phone isn't too fond of this site, and I guess it didn't post. Darn, because I really could've used some encouragement today when my nerves were getting the best of me!! All of the "what ifs" were swirling around in my head, and I couldn't seem to turn it off. Now though, I feel much more content and confident about tomorrow. I know that God will be with me, and it's great to know that I still have this site to turn to for support on the not so good days. Thanks so much for your support so far, and I wish you all the very best of luck! If any of you have a minute and could say a prayer for me, if greatly appreciate it! Thank you all!

Congratulations!!! 100 pounds in 8 months is amazing and you look so healthy- it doesn't look like any of your hair fell out! You look younger, too. I'm impressed.

I'm so excited I was approved today.I will be having my sleeve done in May. Everything seems to be lining up perfectly. I have my EGD on Monday, and I meet with my surgeon the following Wednesday. For the first time, I'm loving my insurance...lol.

I'm lying here in my hospital bed the am after procedure. Feeling fairly well after what I've been through. The incision/puncture sites are the most painful part for me. So far no shoulder pain related to gas. I've been making the nurses let me walk around the unit about every 3 hours. I think it is helping. Next scheduled procedure is a Upper GI series with contrast. If there are no leaks, I should be heading home to start using this new tool to build a healthier lifestyle. I'm very much looking forward to getting in the gym to start working out again, slowly. Thanks for all the encouragement.
Good luck to everyone getting ready to travel this path. It's not too bad at all (so far).

My Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois is not difficult to work with at all. I don't have to do a six month assessment with my PCP, some BCBS does, but not hard to work with.

You have to get the mental stuff straight or the surgery will not work. The first few months may be fine...I didn't want to eat anything at first. But even 3 short months out I'm getting my appetite back and if you read anything from the long-timers, you will see it gets harder as the 1st and 2nd year go by. Anyone can "eat around" their sleeve (or band or bypass), If you don't find a way to deal with your food issues, you will go right back to the old habits and gain any weight you may lose initially. Sorry to be harsh, but this is the harsh reality. 10% surgical, 90% mental. Are you seeing a therapist or going to a support group?

It seems Hair loss is greater in people who get bypass or sleeve compared to band...banders seem to look overall healthier during their loss. Would you agree? I need to make a decision pretty soon. Thanks

If it is causing rashes and boils i believe insurance does cover a pannilectomy which removes the excess skin only. you will have to go to your PCP(primary care physician) start there. Once you get to your goal weight and maintain for a while you can get a Tummy Tuck which isnt covered by insurance and they will tighten your abdominal muscles and remove access skin. good luck
