  1. Hi everyone. Sorry I have been out of the loop. I have been really busy at work. February is not usually a busy month, but I had my open house yesterday, and today I am going for more training and then next Sunday I go for more training in Vancouver. So no days off for me! I have been losing quite well. I am really happy to have reached the 40 pound mark. It is amazing how quickly a pound here and there can add up. I have good restriction. I am trying to stick to softer foods, I find if I eat more than 3/4 of a cup of stickier things I end up sliming. I kept a diary of my trip to China, so when things calm down I will post the condensed version here. I read through the Canadian forum almost everyday. It helps to see how you all are doing, what you are going through etc, now I just need to start posting more! I am very happy to have my band. I feel like I have no doubt that the weight will come off and stay off this time. I treat it like it is pure gold and to be treasured and handled delicately. I feel much calmer about my weight/weight-loss than I ever have before and it feels great! Take care everyone....you are my inspiration! xox
  2. Hi Yasmina. Glad you are feeling better and doing great. Sounds like you are a very busy person! Take Care.
  3. Seeing photos. My passport photos were of this huge body and a little tiny head. A family wedding, in the group picture I stood out more than the bride. I felt like a freak all day.
  4. Mookie, as much as that sucks, things always work out as they are inteded to be. I am guessing that in a little while something will happen that will make you say "Thank God I didn't take that other job!" Green, wow, you are the incredible shrinking bandster. (I just noticed what a funny word shrinking is!) Anne, I am so looking forward to getting off meds...you are an inspiration!
  5. Hello! Congrats to all you new bandsters! Audree, hope you are feeling better soon. You must have got some serious nails if you can't type! hehe. My fill has kicked in big time. I have had trouble keeping food down the last couple days. I am a professional slimer. I have to learn to ssssslllllooooooowwwwww dddddooooowwwwnnnnn. I also can't have something/someone stressing me out, or distracting me with conversation while I am eating. Sounds like I am a fun date. I was layingn in bed the other night wishing I had more restriction....well I got my wish! I feel like I have to learn to eat all over again....but no regrets, not even for a second. Take care everyone! Victoria.
  6. Well...I reached one goal by getting under 100 pounds to lose. The excercising...not so much, but I am working on it. lol.
  7. I agree with Lianna. I read this site cause it is fun. I am not a Lower BMI so I guess I am intruding but what the heck, my BMI is lower than 40 now, and it's lower than 50 too, so atleast it is lower than something! lol. I am doing well. I have been doing very well emotionally and my energy level is up. The house is getting cleaner by the day! I am very lucky to be surrounded by very positive people at work and at home, and that makes life a lot easier. Hope you are all doing well. I will be keeping an eye on your success. I can't wait till my BMI is under 30...I will get there. Bye for now!
  8. I cried and cried BEFORE my operation. It totally freaked me out to be losing my best (worst) friend and habit of binge eating whenever I had an emotion of any kind! About a month after the operation it hit me how much money I had spent. I could have put one of my kids through college. I cried a few nights then. Then I chilled out. I will still help my kids and I will be alive amd active to care for my grandchildren when the time comes. I also agree that a lot of emotions are from that damn love Dr....the Anesthesiologist!
  9. If they are anything like Dr. Ortiz's team, you are in good hands. It is not one person who makes the experience so great. Everyone made me feel good. My experience was that as soon as I walked into the clinic, all my anxiety disappeared. I hope you have the same experience. By the way, I was very anxious the night before. My GP had given me a prescription for anti-anxiety meds just in case...I was very glad I had them. I slept well, and it took the edge off the fear. As it turns out, there was nothing to fear, it was a great experience.
  10. Hi Carol. Sorry about that, I am easily confused...lack of calories! I worried about the first fill more than I needed to. It didn't hurt at all. It gave me restriction, but I still need will power. I am so thankful to have this band. I will probably get another fill in a month or 6 weeks. I am feeling really healthy and I love that! By the way, you are very funny, made me laugh out loud! My hubby thinks I am crazy....
  11. Hi Laura, I am in Victoria too. I hope you are doing well. Making a decision can be the hardest part. Have you got your date and/or surgeon yet?
  12. Thanks for the tip...maybe I will go tonight. I haven't been to the movies for a few months because popcorn is (was) my favorite food and I did not want to torture myself. Maybe I will have a latte and see how it goes.
  13. Yasmina, sounds like you have control of the situation. The drugs will help to kill the cold too! Hope you are doing well and have a speedy recovery!
  14. Dame, hope you are doing well. Looking forward to hearing from you!
  15. Be careful...I heard they (sheep) are a little green, not too sure what all that is about.
  16. Astrotoes, welcome home. It would be very cool to see Rod Stewart. I am sorry to hear about your hernia. Did they repair it at the same time? Hope you are feeling comfortable and getting lots of vitamins, liquids and walking. Take Care.
  17. Way to go Khrissy! That is such a milestone. I am glad that you are posting. I find it really helps me when I start to feel discouraged. Congrats! Yippee for you!
  18. Audree...pms sucks.
  19. Hi everyone! I have been away and missed all the excitement around here. No worries, all is well. It was a simple misunderstanding. We all are scared of not losing weight after making this big commitment, and that is probably what prompted Carol's remark. I feel confident that it had nothing to do with me personally. Carol, I wish you nothing but success in your journey. (Besides I don't want bad a__ bikers coming after me! LOL! You all are awesome! ) Everyone else, thank you for jumping in on my behalf. It warms my heart to see how we stick together on this site. Huge hugs! PS...I have lost 35 lbs now! Yippee!
  20. I got a bad cold a week after being banded. I coughed and sneezed a lot. I kept a pillow at my chest because it hurt! Other than that, no problems, no slip. Take care, I hope you are feeling better soon.
  21. I think we worry about slips more than we should. What I mean is, we obsess about them. I think about a slip everyday. You are doing the right thing by calling your Dr. About a week post surgery, I vomited quite badly, interestly enough it was after taking medication as well. When I had my fill they ex-ray'd me and no slip! Just try to stay calm and breath. Your body is recovering from trauma, just let it be the boss. I hope you are feeling better soon.
  22. After reading this, I think I both slimed and PB'd. That means I am a full member of the bandster club! I am still not sure what triggered it but I will guess at eating too fast. Thanks for the good info.
  23. Audree, I missed my period the first month after surgery. (And I never miss mine). I think it was from the liquid diet. Just my guess.
  24. Good Luck Pamela, let us know how you are doing.
  25. Ya,Yoda, I have to agree, you make a good point!
