Introduction & In need of some advice....
First off, Congrats on wanthing this wonderful tool to help you get healthy! As for your situation, I might not be the best person to help but here is how I see it. I was told in my seminar by the doctor that would be doing my surgery that he prefers you NOT to get pregnant for at least ONE YEAR. So as long as you are sure you are wanting to wait a whole year I say go for it. Get the surgery done so that your body can be used to the lifestyle change and allow you to lose some weight before gaining weight for the pregnancy. This way you wont have as much to lose to get back to being healthy! Make sense? Good luck!

I Told My Parents Tonight!
First of all, Congrats on the journey to a new & healthier you! Embrace it and Enjoy it! I have no words of advice or anything for you. I have been lucky and have wonderful support from my family and the few friends that I have told. After you have had a chance to 'calm down' talk it over again with your dad. Let him know why you decided it and why you feel you need this. Give him all the information you know. If it helps maybe he could attend a doctors visit with you so he can ask questions or learn more about it. Good Luck with getting his support but do not let it affect your happiness! You need to keep a positive mind during this process!

6 months medical weightloss management?
I will have to try reading some success stories. I also have decided to keep a journal and document what I eat for the day and how I am feeling. Think that might help me out! But I agree let's keep everyone FOCUSED!!

Sleep study
I have to do one as well. Just because of my weight and because I dont feel like I got any sleep at all even after 8 or 9 hours of sleep! Luckily I wont have to go anywhere, someone will come to my house and hook me up for the night and come back the next day!

Update with some questions!
Good for you on being so positive and patient!!! Spoiltmom~ thanks for the hope you brought to me. I also have United Healthcare, while I know it varies from situation to situation, it still gives me hope that once I have completed my 6 month supervised diet it might not take to long to get approved!

What's the possibility of....
Very well put! That is the exact way to look at it!

What's the possibility of....
When I went to my seminar, the surgeon talked about the possibility of death. However I dont remember factual numbers. But I do remember him saying that if you have a surgeon that knows what he/she is doing and is good at what they are doing it is far less likely to happen. Also, he said that most of the deaths that do occur from this procedure is due to underlying health problems. The patient may have more serious issues and the media doesnt show that side of the death. I am extremely confident in my surgeon and the whole procedure. I hope you find some comfort too!

approved but not happy
No worries! We are good! I wasnt even thinking you were a mean person! I think that all the stress of this process adds to the stress of everyday life, so I dont take offense! Congrats on getting it moved up sooner! I will say a prayer that it gets moved up a little sooner for you!

approved but not happy
Oh Gosh I am sorry! I did misunderstand you! I went back and reread your original post! I thought you were still doing the 6 month diet program! That is where I was saying it was up to the insurance to have everything submitted first! Again, I am so sorry! Been a loooooong week!

approved but not happy
While I understand your frustration, keep in mind that if it is through your insurance this is THEIR policy not the doctors office. I cant not even begin to look at a surgery date until my 6 months is up and waiting for the insurance approval which can take up to an additional 8 weeks. I am not sure about the doctor you are going to but ours is a very busy man so he booked far in advance! Keep your chin up and just remember you might regret changing doctors....specially if you have already got aquainted with that one... Congrats on your surgery date!

New:Awaiting the new chapter in my life
Hello everyone! My name is Jennifer and I am anxiously awaiting for the new chapter in my life to begin! I attended my first Seminar last night (a class where they give you info). I have my appointments set up and ready to go! I have a best friend from high school that had the LapBand done last year with her hubby, and have heard the wonderful stories from them. Listening to them got me interested in it for myself. When I first set up the Seminar date, I was extremely nervous. You hear so much negative news with the positive news. I was afraid of dying (as with any surgery) but after lots of heartfelt thinking, I decided that with my weight and genetic background I could die without the LapBand. So why be scared for trying something to save my life? I am beyond excited for the appointments to get here! I am so ready to start this new journey!

Super Frustrated!!!
I can see where the frustration comes from. But keep in mind that the doctors (if they are really actual good doctors) they just have your best interest at matter! Talk it over with them before letting the frustration get to you. I know easier said then done but ultimatley you have to do what is best for you and if that is the LapBand...then stick to it!
