You mentioned journaling to get your frustrations out! I recommend Blogging! I started reading some girls blogs from here and found a whole community of support and frustration release just from starting a blog! If you are curious my link is in my signature and I have loads of different bloggers on my page! Good luck!

To keep me busy on the Pre Op Diet...
I probably will be starting this phase soon too! I have heard that the first few days are insane! Then it gets better! I think I am going to work on making some really savory broths..like thai and asian inspired so it feels like more then it is! Can you do that or is it all pre packaged soups and protiens!?

How much did your Psyh and Sleep Study Cost?
Hi guys! My Dr gave me a list of 4 psychologists to try! I live about an hour away from all of these guys(or gals) and was hoping to find some one closer. Finding that there are none I started down the list the Doc gave. 2 of them were filled until after Jan 1st. One charges $850 and does not file! I did find one today that seemed like a good fit! She basically worked me in to her schedule according to what I could do, she charges no more then $500 bucks and she will give you all the paper work to file a claim. I still think that is an insane amount of money! va-viv..hiya! Thanks for following me! I am hoping the sleep study goes like yours! I might have slight sleep apnea and it will be okay if I do! I just want it to be a little cheaper then the psych!

I am trying to book my Psychologist appointment (which is required for me) and I not only am I finding it hard to find someone here but the cost is blowing me away! I am of sound mind darnit! So how much did it cost you or am I the only sucker?! (jk) How much did your sleep study cost? I need to go ahead and plan for that cost too. My insurance will cover it but I haven't met my deductable (getting closer by the day) yet. My wallet is hurtin!

I am having a hard time even FINDING someone who will do it and the places that will charge at least $700. To me this is insane.

New,young and nervous

Trying to stay positive...
I asked just that same question in the first 2 meetings I had at the dr. office. I am borderline and I was worried that if I lost weight that I wouldn't quailify. What they told me both times is that they record your beginning weight and that is what they follow going forward with your paperwork. I would confirm that with your care team but hopefully they have the same information!

New,young and nervous
Good Morning! Congrats on taking the steps to improve your health! First I want to say I have little advice as far as surgery goes as I am getting ready for my first appointment as well! However, you are a young person and this could be the best time in your life to take charge! Reading on here and on members blogs I really have found inspiration to continue on this path! My sister is in school right now for a very demanding schedule. However with a illness she was able to get some forgiveness by talking with her teachers. Perhaps sitting down with them and giving them the details and pleading your case would at least allow you a little "time" when things are the hardest! But from what I have read, for some, recovery is a walk in the park! I hope that is the same for me! Good luck!

Anyone from Western NC??
I am in almost as far west as you can get. Franklin. No I haven't been banded yet. I basically have my first appointment with the "team" on the 30th. I've done all the pre- stuff. But they make you go through 4-6 months of appointments etc etc. You?

Anyone from Western NC??
Hiya Mamamary..sorry I am just seeing this! I forgot to look because no one was posting! A fellow NCer! Yay!

I just got banded...
I don't have much advice to add as I am not banded yet, however I keep reading that a lot of people have issues with gas pains. Especially after surgery. Is it possible for your to try the gas-x strips? See if that helps. Also don't try and eat yogurt if it causes pain. Stick with broth and Protein shakes. Sorry you are miserable. Best of luck for the future though!

Banded today all by myself!!!
Good for you! And I wouldn't feel a bit guilty! Just don't foret to ask for help when you need it and know that you aren't alone when you have a good group like this behind ya!

failure...were you worried??
The whole money thing is on my mind too! But I guess what I hope is that in the long run much less will have to be spent because I will be healthier. No one makes me feel guilty about the cost. Def. not my husband. But I make myself feel guilty. But not enough to deter from this surgery!

failure...were you worried??
MiMi: I agree with you I think. My thoughts in the research is that everything in moderation. However, everyone is different with what they can handle. So people can't drink beer...or soda. Some peeps can! I personally don't struggle with the sweet stuff. It is more quantity related for me. Which I think will be good for me with the band. Why is your Dr. against unfills? Sundi: Being patient. I struggle with this myself. But I agree, I do not want to be on a "diet" for the rest of my life! Kosy..I really like that. I think I will use it! For everyone else..I am thrilled to not feel alone in this journey. I have fabulous family and friends. I have a fantastic life. But I am seriously the only over weight person in my day to day life. Therefore I do feel alone when I am talking about lapband and weight issues. It is really nice to have people make such thoughtful comments. So thanks!

Mimilou~ You have been so successful! Congrats on the 17 weeks too! Did your weight go up at all during your two years post op? I mean a few lbs here and there but 10+? It does make a difference to have support from here I think! BandNewMe~ Thanks for your vote of confidence! Do you think that because we are concerned with being successful it will help us to become successful? Always being aware?? I hope so. Best of luck to you! You'll be fine! Mind if I keep up with you a little to hear about your successes?
