loridee11 got a reaction from catwoman7 in First goal: 50 lbs down!
So excited, today I am 50 lbs down from when I started the entire journey. 41.6 of that was pre-surgery and the last 8 has been since surgery a week ago. Crazy to think how far I still have to go, but for today, celebrating where I am at!

In addition to what you posted I have:
a set of 100 2oz containers with lids. I made a bunch of SF Jello w/ unflavored Protein Powder and SF pudding and pre-portioned them so they are quick for the first few days. I also have a bunch of Premier Protein shakes in a variety of flavors I have a bunch of nectar Protein in fruit flavors. I made a froze a couple batches of pureed Soups and have a cup of each thawing in the freezer. I bought Gas-X and stool softeners (my surgeon recommended I start the stool softners this weekend (Tue surgery) so I did. My fridge and cupboard are both stocked and ready to go when I get back from the hospital.

How is everyone doing today? I feel like the bloating is starting to go down which is making me much more comfortable. Other than that, just trying to sip sip sip all day.

loridee11 got a reaction from FluffyChix in 3 days post OP- nausea, dry heaving, incision pain, not eating...
I'm sorry you are struggling. My understanding is swelling generally peeks 48-72 hours after an injury or surgery and you are still in that window. Hopefully, as swelling goes down the pain and nausea will as well and you'll start to be able to get food and more liquids in.

I took way to much to the hospital. All I ended up needing was:
    - Outfit I wore there I wore home
    - Hard soled slippers (rather than try to put on shoes to go home)
    - Chapstick
    - Phone
As others mentioned, I was in a hospital gown and hospital provided anti-slip socks the whole time. They even provided a toothbrush and toothpaste (may be good to bring your own just in case). I pretty much slept, walked the halls, watched a little tv, and repeated

Hope everyone is doing well this morning. Steve, hope your pain is much improved!
I'm doing pretty well today. I got some decent sleep and have been sipping fluids and had some greek yogurt for Breakfast. I needed a couple tylenol this am - I was a little worried since they sent me home with pills but so far so good.

My surgery is Dec 31st (2 days - yikes!) and I keep having the same thoughts and fears. What if... what if I am the weird exception that doesn't lose weight? Or, what if I lose it, but gain it all back.
I'm grateful to all of the veterans here for sharing their stories. I've done a ton of research and have to trust that the metabolic aspects of the surgery will work. And, as everyone says, if I do my part to rewrite my habits and patterns it will work long term. I've started looking for a local therapist with food addiction experience and hopefully that with the surgery will help me get where I need to be.

Steve, so sorry for your pain. I hope it has passed now.
Cutebutcrzy - congrats! I hope you are still feeling well.
LovingLV, I had my band out in August and my surgeon told me going in he would only do it in two surgeries. Even with the delay my bypass took an extra hour as he had to clean up some scar tissue so waiting is probably for the best.
brooksbrittanyanne: congrats! I hope you are feeling well a couple days after your surgery! Feel free to chime in here and share you story with us!
Overall my pain has been pretty minimal. I took a small dose of hydrocodone 2 time in the hospital, but the rest of the time I was OK with just Tylenol. I did try to walk every couple of hours.
Now that I am home I am definitely feeling the bloat and some related pain. I've got an ice pack on and took a hydocodone which isn't doing much. I'll walk around the house some more to see if that helps it move quicker.
My biggest challenge is I didn't sleep much in the hospital - just too much noise and movement. I'm hoping I'm able to sleep tonight.

loridee11 got a reaction from Krimsonbutterflies in R&Y Bypass 12/31/2019. New Year's Revolution!
I'm getting pretty nervous. My house is clean, I finished up with work, and I've done all my shopping. I even cleaned out the fridge and freezer so I don't have anything I shouldn't have in the house.
I have a couple more things to do around the house over the next 2 days and I will do some food prep over the next couple of days (not a ton to do, just putting some greek yogurt, SF Jello, broth in 2 oz cups, etc... ) It would be much easier if I could just keep busy.
    How are you all feeling?

loridee11 got a reaction from Slimming Down Steve in R&Y Bypass 12/31/2019. New Year's Revolution!
My surgery is in Northern California and Kaiser Fremont. My surgeon isn't requiring a liquid diet pre-surgery. He did make me lose weight before he would approve surgery, and I'm down almost 40 lbs since starting in July. I am going to try to be really good this week and avoid anything that might inflame the liver (no caffeine, alcohol, sweets, etc...) and my goal is to drink 100+ oz Water today.
  21. Congrats!

loridee11 got a reaction from ChubRub in December Surgery dates???
I had my pre-op appointment on Friday and I do not have to do a liquid diet which I am excited about. I admit the last week or so I've been pretty bad eating foods because I didn't think I'd be able to again (I fully expected my doctor to put me on liquids at my pre-op). However, I know I need to buckle down and be good for the next 10 days. Otherwise, I think it'll be even harder after the surgery.
    Goals between now & surgery:
    - Vitamins every day
    - 90+ oz Fluid everyday
    - 80-90 G Protein everyday
    - Eat on track. I will allow myself 2 meals that aren't on track with my favorite foods I won't be able to have for a while. Indian and mexican.
