loridee11 got a reaction from breavsg in Losing my hair! Anyone else, and what can help??
I noticed Hair loss starting a few weeks ago (mid way through month 3). Now I am seeing a scary amount of hair coming out in the shower. I have really fine hair so it makes me nervous but I knew going in it was a possibility. So far no bald Patches and it looks OK when it's down but if that changes I'll figure out if I need to cut it, where it up, etc... I have been taking Biotin since pre-surgery but as said, it just helps the new hair (Oh - and my nails look fabulous )

loridee11 got a reaction from breavsg in New clothes during Shelter in Place
I'm curious what others are doing about clothes if you live in an area that's under extended Shelter In Place. Everything I have is too big, with much of it being absolutely unwearable (yay!). I don't want to buy too much since I'm still losing, but I do video conferences everyday so I need some things that work for work. I've tried ordering a few things online but I can't seem to get sizing right even when I measure. Anyone have any tips that have worked for you?

loridee11 got a reaction from DesperateEC in Not losing weight
Agreed. My 3 week stall lasted 3 weeks, from about week 2.5 to about week 5.5. I was SO frustrated. But it broke and I've been losing since. At that time I went from weighing daily to weighing weekly. Doesn't change the numbers but at least I could not focus on them most of the week and just focus on eating my plan and walking.

loridee11 got a reaction from NovaLuna in Officially in the hair loss phase
I'm almost 4 months post op and I am officially in the Hair loss phase I was hoping I'd be one of the few lucky ones but after watching the amount of hair loss gradually increase over the last couple of weeks, I am accepting it. I have very fine hair, but lots of it so I'm hoping it won't become visible. I'm also taking the opportunity of working from home to not dye it or other things that generally increase loss. Keeping my fingers crossed.
For those of you who also had loss, how long did the increase loss last?

loridee11 reacted to Ellf in As of Yesterday, 200 lbs lost from my heaviest
Weighed myself yesterday morning, and I was 227 lbs. The weight I was that got me to start this journey to begin with was 427 lbs., almost two years ago. Sure, today I fluctuated up 4 lbs. due to Water retention from what I ate yesterday (and not having a bowel movement until after I'd eaten breakfast), but I count that as a win. For reference, I was 360 lbs on the day of my surgery, 13 months ago.

loridee11 got a reaction from JTSC in Go to meal
I know you said you aren't tolerating chicken well yet, but I do ground chicken, onion and taco seasoning. Because the chicken is ground it was easier for me until I could tolerate regular chicken. It's still something I make at least a couple of times a week. You can also mix in a can of Beans if you want. It will make around 6 meals...

loridee11 got a reaction from LC43 in Did your dr prescribe you medicine to prevent gallstones post-surgery?
I had bypass, but my surgeon did prescribe med to help prevent gallbladder. In fact, I took my last one this morning.
I talked with him about the meds alot. Apparently, they can have side effects of both nausea and Hair loss so he makes them optional. He did say, you must take them as a preventative measure - meaning you need to take them before you have issues as they will prevent, but not reverse. I chose to take them for 100 days although he was willing to prescribe for up to 6 months.

loridee11 got a reaction from Sammi_Katt in Almond Flour
You may have discovered this already, but I just discovered Almond Flour (finely ground almonds). I made a delicious air fried chicken piccata with that as a crust and it was delicious and low carb. It also satisfied a craving for something crunchy breaded so I thought I'd share.

loridee11 got a reaction from Sammi_Katt in Grateful for this tool, especially now
I was thinking this morning. With the current Shelter in Place requirements, working from home, and having to cook most of my meals - pre surgery I would have definitely gained weight. I would have eaten my feelings and stressed, and I probably wouldn't have made it a point to walk everyday. With this surgery I am losing weight. It's not easy. I am fighting head hunger every day. And yes, I'm still stressed, but walking is not only good physically, it's good mentally - getting fresh air and sunshine.
Wishing everyone health and happiness. Stay safe and take care of yourselves!

loridee11 got a reaction from Stinkerbells2ndact in Bacon....
I will occasionally have turkey bacon for either breakfast or dinner. (I never liked regular bacon --too fatty). I overcook it slightly so I still get a crunch. It isn't great on Protein so wouldn't work everyday or as a stand alone, but may be an option to rotate.

loridee11 got a reaction from Nicole0615 in 3 months post op
I am almost 3 months post RNY (Tuesday will be the official 3 month day). Today I am feeling really good about where I am. I am down 41.8 lbs since surgery (83.4 since starting). In addition I have a few great NSVs:
Lost over 25" total (including 5" off my waist and 4.5" off my hips) My arthritis pain in my knees is virtually gone I am walking 2 miles a day with ease Almost all my clothes are too big. A bunch I've had to pull to donate because they simply aren't wearable, and the rest are getting close. When we are out of social isolation I'm going to need to do some shopping before going back to the office. In addition, I had my 3 month group appointment last week and was released to drink caffeinated coffee again (just need to ensure I don't add a lot of high calorie items). SO Excited.
I hope everyone else is doing well in their journey and staying positive during this trying time!

Congratulations! Your loss so far is amazing and I'm so glad you are feeling better. I'm just past the 3 months myself and am down 43 lbs since surgery (I was down >40 before surgery) and agree, I feel so much better.
