Couple post op questions
I am 4 days post op (banded on the 20th). Is it really bad at this stage on Clear liquids only to not be getting your Protein in? I am only getting like maybe 20 g per day. Every liquid Protein I have tried makes me want to vomit. I tried the

How long before exercise?
I will wait til at least my recheck to talk with the dr. Thank you. I was just wondering because in the veterinary field we tell clients for their pets no running jumping playing for like 6-8 week. I was just hoping it wasn't that long. Now my shoulder was bothering me before I went to sleep and now here I woke up at 2 with it really bothering me and so I have a heating pad on it trying to fall back asleep. I was hoping the gas was all gone, but I guess not

How long before exercise?
I was banded on the 20th, and I am kind of anxious to do some sort of physical activity. I hate walking but I like to go on the elliptical or do physical games like dancing or tennis etc on my wii. I want to do something but I am afraid of messing something up. I go for my post op appointment on Wednesday but I don't want to wait. How long did it take before you guys did stuff besides walk?

TMI Mirilax is.....

Belly button back to normal?
I don't have an incision in my belly button. I wonder if it is because mine is a deep inniy. All my incisions are straight across my abdomen like 2 inches above my belly button and then there is one higher up, I'm guessing for the hiatal hernia I had repaired

Afraid to step on the scale
Honestly I am awful with my scale, I step on it like everytime I go into the bathroom (almost). But I have made a commitment to myself, I will only care about the number once a week. I was banded on Monday, so that is going to be my weigh in day. I work in the morning too, so when I wake up I will go into the bathroom and weigh myself and that will be the number I log. I know people say weighing yourself every day is bad, but I kind of feel it helps keep me on track. If I see the number is a little up, I may try to push a little more and do a little extra at the gym or something. Thoug I haven't been to the gym in 1.5 weeks, I did not have to energy on my pre op diet and now I am just 3 days post op, and I am not even going to think about going until my post op appointment

TO MUSH OR NOT 2nd week of being banded
Every dr is different so you should follow your DR. advice. Mine said 2nd week was just thicker liquids like shakes and yogurt etc

Vision problems after anesthesia?
Has anyone else had vision problems after anesthesia, I had my surgery on Monday, lap band and apparently hiatal hernia repair. Ever since then I feel like my vision is a lot worse. I do wear glasses and need to make and ophthomology appointment anyways, but so far I seem to be havng a harder time reading things. Not sure if it could have something to do with the anesthesia.

where are the December 20th ?
I had mine on the 20th too. Felling better each day. My left shoulder does hurt a little. But mainly it is the incisions that hurt mostly when I amgetting up from a sitting/ lying down position. I need to go out and get my family gifts and mycar oil changed, not sure if I want to do it today or give one more day before I brave the stores since I am still uncomfortable. Unfortunately I have not been getting my Protein since surgery. I figure that will get better when I can start full liquids and the earliest I can do that is Saturday.

in hospital
I am not sure how much fluids I reeceived during my stay, but I know when I was wanting to leave, they had me urinated first and I really did not have to go, and I sat for a number of minutes just trying to will myself to go and then only had a little, but they let me go. Off topic for a minute because I just thought of this. They put a anti nauseas patch behind my ear prior to surgery, and I just remembered it was there. Anyone know how long I am supposed to keep it on, I never asked.

Did they weigh you on surgery day?
I was surprised when I had my surgery yesterday, that I did not get weighed. I did get weighed at the pre op appointment, so I assumed they went with that weight. The pre op appointment was on Wednesday and surgery was Monday, and I know I weighed a few pounds less on surgery date.

December 20th!!
My surgery went well. Not really having any gas pains, I think I am just sore at the incision sites. I usally sleep on my left side /stomach to sleep, and I was nervous because people said they had trouble laying on their left side, I actually felt most comfortable sleeping on my left side. My throat is sore from being intubated and I think I hve a bit of laryngitis from it, I sound really hoarse. Also, my mom said the doctor told her I had a hiatal hernia repair too. I did not even know I had one. I did not get to ask, because I never saw my doctor when I woke up. But I feel ok, like I said still a bit sore, but nothing untolerable, I did take a little of the lortab this am, but otherwise doing ok.

December 20th!!
Today is the day! I have mixed feelings, I started wondering if I was doing the right thing last night, am I going to be able to still eat the things I love (in smaller portions) I know some peopl are never able to eat certain things again. Well I have to be at the hospital at 8am, and my mother is coming at 7:30 am to pick me up, so I have 30 min left to change my mind. I have to be doing to right thing, I just kind of hate myself that I could not do it on my own. . GOOD LUCK TO ALL YOU DECEMBER 20TH BANDSTERS!!

December 20th!!
Becky you did not have to go to no Protein at all. I had bought the unjury protein chicken flavored broth and that was allowed for my Clear liquids it has 21 grams of protein and does not taste bad. I will try and order that Protein powder from Bariatric Eating. I hasd bought 2 containers of unflavored protein from unjury, but originally tried the sample packet and did not like it, so those containers are still sealed, I wonder if I can return them? Just want to make surer, I did not see a unflavored powder that said Be pure, is this the one? My link

December 20th!!
I started my clear liquids today, and I got to work a little while ago and it is horrible, I have no energy. Plus there are Cookies and chocolate covered pretzels on the counter taunting me. I just keep telling myself it won't be forever that I won't be able to have one. Also been thinking about the post op diet and how I am going to get the Protein in, I can't use the unflavored powder, it is nasty and the clear liquid Protein drinks are nasty too. I did find one that is a little tolerable but I've only had a sip so far, the muscle milk h2o, but it is only 10 grams for 16 oz, so I'd have to drink a ton of it. This stuff along with hunger is putting me in a bad mood

pain and uncomfortable
Thanks I did not even think to check. 160 mg is 5 mls. Anyways I am going to see if I can exchange it for the adult. I don't want to have to drink that much of it. Unfortunately I threw out the receipt, hopefully they will let me, otherwise, I guess I will just buy the adult anyways.

pain and uncomfortable
Curious, I will be banded monday. I had seen a lot of people recommend the children's liquid tylenol post op. Do you just double the dose? I figure the children's dose is going to be too low. I bought the cherry flavor, and hope it tstses ok, I have problems taking liquid meds if they taste nasty. I remember one time I tried to take liquid day quil and ended up spitting it across the room because I could not swallow it due to the taste. So I am concerned if they are to give me liquid pain meds to go home with if I will be able to swallow them. I had also seen that most people got a script to fill prior to surgery, I did not.

Egg drop soup pre op?
Does anyone know if I can eat egg drop soup on my pre op diet? It says I can have cream soups and I think they are about the same consistency, and the eggs are not really like food. I need to have something with a little more sustonence

I start the PreOp diet today!
I know about the exercise. I haven't been to the gym since I started the pre op diet, I almost went to day, but I was to tired. Even so since the diet started I have lost 6.6 lbs. I know a lot is water, but is that even healthy to lose that much. At this rate by the end of the week, I'll have lost like 15 lbs, but I guess it probably slows down, I assume

I start the PreOp diet today!
Today is my third day, and seemed to be harder today. I am hungry right now. I was at my bowling league and someone on another team was eating fries and ketchup, it smelled so good, but I held my ground. I have had a string cheese, but nothing else. I am dreading the last 2 days on Clear liquids... I see some of you are using the tickers starting with your pre op diet? I guess I should start mine now, huh?
