Caffeine-Yes or NO
I drink coffee every day...my nutritionist said there was no problems with it. Mind you I only have about 1-2 cups a day with skim milk and artificial sweetener. I go by what they told me that it's ok...just no carbonated beverages.

Cost of Fills
Question: I was banded in October and my insurance paid for it...I have had 2 fills (the last one this past Thursday) I just got a letter from my INS company that they are dropping my coverage (long story) and now I am going to have to pay for fills myself. I havn't got to call the DR's office to find out how much it will cost and It's driving me bananas not knowing what I am in for. So my question would be does anyone pay for their fills? And if so about how much do they cost. I know it will probably vary by state I am in NY but just want an idea. Thanks in advance, I am hoping I will feel better once I know.

Lean Cuisines?
I was just wondering how many people on this board can eat lean cuisines? I am tired of mixing up food/cooking/preparing etc. I am thinking about doing LC for lunch and dinner? Can anyone get them down...had success?

Poll: How do you get fills?
I get a numbing needle first, the doc waits about 5 min while he gets the barium for me to swallow. My doc does it under floroscopy so I get to watch the whole thing (VERY COOL) I can see/feel the tightening and when we agree it's a good restriction thats that. The numbing needle is like a little bee sting doesn't hurt much, the only thing I feel is a little pressure when he reaches the port.

Mom of the little "big fat girl" Desperately Needs HELP
Oh my heart breaks for you! As the "fat" kid my whole life as well I can remember going clothes shopping with friends and lying I had no money to buy clothes just to hide the fact that nothing came in my size in the stores they shopped in. I remember being 12 years old and weighing 200 lbs and being called a whale by my twin sister. I too was very active played 3 sports a year etc etc. I can remember as far back as 5 or 6 having my moms friends comment on how i was built like a brick sh*t house...not exactly what a 5 year old needs to hear. My only advise I can give is maybe to join Weight Watchers together as she unfortunetly is too young for the band. By a walking tape like walk away the pounds and do it together. I wish my mom had helped me when I was young...I probably was at the weight I was at before my banding because no one ever admitted I had a weight problem. I can only suggest you do this together because having someone support you makes such a difference. CHANGE DOCTORS....suicide is SERIOUS!!!!! Any professional who brushes that off is completely out of line. When we are that unhappy about our bodies/image depression follows suit. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and I hope you (and the rest of your family) can pull through this and give your baby girl the support she needs.

It was the Right Choice for me!!
Ok so I am now in tears reading this letter. What courage you have...I just took the opposite approach and said this is my life I don't care if no one else (family wise) will support me it's something I am doing. I Congratulate you on your success!

October Bandsters how much weight have you lost so far?
Just thought I would start a thread to compare weight loss since my October 18th surgery. My questions are: When in October was your surgery? How much weight have you lost so far? How many fills have you had? How much/what type of exercise are you doing? I think it will be fun to see the results of how we October bandsters are doing! My Info: Surgery Date: October 18, 2006 Including the pre-liquid diet I am down 36 lbs I have Had 1 Fill so far, I go for my second on January 18th I am walking about 4 miles a day for now

??? Anyone else lose the weight slowly???
I am 3 months post op, and I have only lost 20 lbs (according to my weight on the day of surgery not counting the pre-liquid diet). I am getting my second fill on thursday, I hope this kicks my weight loss a bit as it's been 3 weeks w/o any weight loss. My question is did anyone else lose 100 lbs but it took a while?

Lap vs Bypass
Did everyone on here know that they do the bypass laproscopically? I did not know that, and now I am wondering if I should have done that proceedure, I did the lap-band because I didn't want a big scar-cut, as I already have had a c-section. I am really curious to know if I just didn't do my homework and if everyone knows this or is it just me?

Fill Question.....
I learned last night at my support group meeting that my Dr. Does his fills himself in the hospital under floroscopy, in radiology.... My question is for everyone who has received a fill.... Do you think the Doctor can adjust the band better under floroscopy or not. Either way how many fills have you received? Thanks!

why am i losing sooo slowly?
I was banded October 18, 2006 and have only lost 11 lbs since surgery (one month today) I went to my support group yesterday and asked the same question...everyone says once you get your first fill, you will notice that you lose weight more quickly...good luck!:peep:

No weight loss because I eat too much
I am going through the same thing right now but I havn't gotten a fill yet...I lost 14 lbs pre-op and another 11 post op but that has been it. I have just been totally watching what I am eating like the band isn't even in there. I WAS drinking with the band but It pushes the food through so I was not full as long, since I have stopped drinking while eating I notice I am definetly a lot fuller longer, maybe you just need to cut out the drinking with meals I know it is hard, but you have come so far, this can be an easy "habit" to break...hang in there this is in us for the rest of our lives the weight will come off.

Personal Question About The Surgery?
I had one put in once i was under the anesthesia they took it out the next morning when I was fully able to get up and walk around and go to the bathroom on my own, it was not painful when they took it out at all.

pain
My doctor prescribed NEXIUM for that "feeling" perhaps you should ask your doctor, it has gone away since i started taking it.

Pre Op Help Questions
I too was on a liquid diet 2 weeks prior to surgery...I quit having my last meal as it seems that's all i did for a month prior to this. I was so afraid my liver wouldn't shrink and they would have to do an open proceedure I totally stuck to the liquids. For me my "last" meal was important...but not as important as having my surgery go well. This is totally your call though...I hope all works out for you good luck!!!

Why can I still eat alot????
Ok I am so totally confused now...I was banded on October 18th, I have lost so far 25 lbs (which includes the 2 weeks before surgery when I was on a total liquid diet) I am now in week 3, eating somewhat normal food, and I am exercising like an hour a day, 4 miles of walking every other day and strength training every other, I have actually gained a pound, BUT I feel like i can keep eating, and eating and eating. I don't get it I thought I was supossed to have a full feeling after like 1/2 a cup, not me Will I feel full after my first fill? (nov 25)? I am starting to get scared that this is not going to work for me. Any advise or similar stories?:think
