  1. Kat - time is flying by. I can't believe how alike we are. Funny. I always had that boyish figure too, now I think dang why couldn't I have appreciated it then! You know when I think about it, even tho the outcome scares me, its still going to be so worth it. When all those wild goofy thoughts come into my head I have to refocus and tell myself that I wasn't even expecting a tummy tuck, I went to the ps thinking if all the insurance will pay for is the pannectolmy then good, just get this chunk of skin/fat off of me! One of the other things she told me was that she was only in the hospital one day. My/our dr told me expect up to 3 days in. She said no, she went home with the drains the next day. So thats kinda cool to know since I was freaked out about dd going to prom and me missing the kids all dressed up. My oldest dd is coming in late friday night from college so she'll be with me all weekend too. Kat I think you're right about the lipo hurting the most. And like you I don't have any back fat (or very little) so he doesn't plan on lipo-ing anything. The friend from church said it wasn't bad at all. You all know I've been excited but its getting to the point of not sleeping or when I wake up its the first thing that comes to my mind. I think I'm ready.
  2. I'm anxious to see the pics... where are they?
  3. Thanks Julie - my tt is on Thursday May 1st. Just a few more days. I'm very excited. We had a work day at our church today and one of my friends had gastric bypass a few years ago and I think its been a year or more since she had the tt. She also had the same dr that is doing my tt. She said she loves it and she said I'll love it. It was good to hear from one of my dr's patients first hand how well he did. The only negative statement was that she doesn't have an hourglass figure anymore. She said even when she was fat she still had ah hourglass figure and it made me think of LJM saying about the tree stump figure. I said I've never had an hourglass or pear figure so I've go nothing to lose. I'm an apple so if I loose the belly its hard telling how I'll end up looking. I think thats the biggest fear in all this ... what am I going to look like afterward? Will it work for me? I hope so, I hope I'm happy with the results. Pray for me...
  4. Nip what kind of surgery? TT? 4 weeks sound like a long time. I'm taking a whole week (actually longer since my surgery is on Thurs. and I'll have all that weekend, the following week and the next weekend to heal up) then I plan on doing half days if needed. I have a desk job so I might just go in and get the worst of it done and then leave. My surgeon said a whole week and then half days is do-able.
  5. Becky I would call the insurance co. just to see where it sits. You have every right to call so just do it :smile2: I am excited. I went grocery shopping this evening, I got enough for 2 weeks, alot of frozen stuff that dd and dh can do without my help. I've got the laundry just about done up and my floors clean... Just a few more days...woohoo!
  6. Well there you have it Bman - we all think he's in a relationship. :crying: Boo - heck yeah I'm getting scared too! But I'm so excited! I took more before pics tonight so I have something to compare too. I just have a feeling I'm not going to come out looking as good as everyone else does. My neice called me tonight about going to a party with them on May 10th and I said I don't know if I'll be up to it, and she says omg Steph your surgery is next thursday! I said I KNOW! It'll be here in a flash! I don't know if I'll be up to a party or not 10 days after?
  7. I"m praying for you sweetie. It'll happen and don't be afraid to check in with the insurance co. sometimes it gives them a kick in the butt and gets them moving.
  8. Kat this month is going to fly by for you. Seriously I feel it was just last week I was at the ps and getting my date - when I was pouting about not getting it when I wanted it. The whole month flew by so fast, which I think is partly bc its spring and spring always goes so fast its hard to enjoy the flowers bc they're here one day and gone the next. I'm excited for you, and I think its awesome that all you shrinking violets are getting together too. I have my "steadies" who I'd love to get with like that. You'll have a blast. I know I use LBT more as a blog then a forum. I guess it is a stress reliever. I'm glad you all are putting up with me.
  9. ohhhhhhhhhh (((((((BMAN)))))))) you are in LOVE! Enjoy every moment of it. Enjoy trying to figure him out and all the little subtle romantic things he does. I think its very much a relationship. If he's been hurt in the past (as our own little bman has) you know it takes time to heal and although he may not want to commit at the moment (which I think is the real issue... commitment not relationship) he does want the relationship, its clear as day, its the committment that he's scared of. Typical man - most have that fear. I know with my dh, he loved me to peices but the commitment scared him because with commitment comes responsiblity. Needless to say he's been committed to me for the past 30 years! One week from today, actually to the hour I should be coming out of surgery. I'm getting so stinking excited! WooHoo! Flatlands here I come!
  10. One week from today... omgoodness... I'm getting fricking antsy! (like I wasnt excited up to this point?!!?) I went to the pre-op tests and talked to the anethesist yesterday. I told them the only thing I'm concerned about is waking up with a tube in my throat. When I had my band done they woke me up with the tube in my throat, I freaked out. I've had 7 surgeries and had never had that happen before, she said it was probably bc of my weight and constricted airway... she noted it and said that it won't happen this time. So thats outta the way, they gave me special soap to shower with the day of surgery. I'm getting my i's dotted, now its just getting the t's crossed. My best bud went with me yesterday and she said she'd go with dh the day of, and I think dd wants to come along - I'm loved. I'll probably just chase them all home as soon as I get to my room anyway. But its nice they care.
  11. Christine when you say your hips are down 10" had you measured on the outside of your apron or did you lift if up and measure? I always lift my flap up to measure around my butt aka hips. I'm suprised your belly is still that swollen.
  12. wow Nina you lost 4 inches immediately! Thats wonderful! Can I ask how tall you are? Do you have pics posted? Anyone else?
  13. This one is for all of you who have been there before us who are looking toward the flatlands. Did you take your measurements? I've been taking mine throughout the whole Lap Band process and today I got to thinking about the inches lost with the tummy tuck. Just curious if you did and how many inches lost?
  14. Shannon a little dish detergent under the flap will work wonders for an instant rash but beware it is painful. I told my dr that the only thing that would work for me was the athletes foot cream, for fungus, he doc'd that and the ins co never asked to see pics. Maybe just a pic of the rash and a statement from your family dr will be enough. Good luck.
  15. Isn't this whole band/weightloss/ps thing crazy? I mean how it plays with your head. For instance how many of us go shopping and still look at the plus sizes or just still feel like we are that fat person we used to be? Or on the other hand we feel like wow I can't believe I was ever that big and how the heck did I get that way? Or we start questioning ourself on other aspects of our appearance? And then theres the days when we are like WOW I'm looking good? I just think its been a roller coaster of emotions. Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining in the least. I love my band, I love that I lost weight, I love that I'm going to have a flat tummy, I love that I can walk and keep up with the rest of the family, I love that I feel and look healthy - but dang if it hasn't been one heck of a ride!
  16. thanks Christine - Yep Karey its getting closer and I'm fricking excited! My husband won't even come near the computer, all I do is look at tt's. Trying to figure out how mine will turn out. I guess I'll know in about 9 days!
  17. Well Renee I wanted to but I havent' gotten very far. I was only losing about a lb or 2 a month and then went in for a fill and lost 5 the first week, then it slowed down to about 2 more in the next few weeks. I only have a week left so I don't think I'm going to lose these last 8 lbs by then. I got my period so that threw me up a pound but if and when I dare get back on the scale I doubt that I'll have lost any more. But good luck to you! I'm glad you found us.
  18. Funny how so many of us are so alike in so many ways. I'm not a clean freak at any other time but its as if I have to do it all. Like if I'm not there its NEVER going to get done. My family is used to me but the poor souls I work with don't know where I'm coming from. Most of them just nod their heads ok, ok.
  19. wow Amy thats wonderful! You look great! Have you lost more weight?
  20. :glare: Kat we are so alike! I'm always saying things like that to dh. The other day I got out of the tub and said just think in a little over a week I'm not going to have this jelly belly anymore - in the meantime my old 36 longs were swinging - so I grabbed the sistas and said then we can work on the girls. LOL You're lucky to be going out of town for a few days prior, definitly help get your mind off of it ... yeah right! As if you aren't going to be just as excited in Texas as you would be in NM! But at least you'll have somewhat of a distraction. I feel like its happening faster now. Today at work we were going over what I expect out of everyone. :Dancing_biggrin: I'm the club mother - yeah you can bet they all call me a mother behind my back too. Anyway as we were going over what I needed from everyone to get my shtuff in order I was like wow this is really happening fast. I just have to be so stinking organized! It drives me crazy. I can never leave a t uncrossed or an i undotted. Do I sound a bit excited? Not really? Ok I have to go obsess over MMH and see if I can find someone with the same bmi as me.
  21. Good to hear from you Julie. I never thought about the placement of the belly button. Mine is pretty low now, maybe thats why I like the mom jeans that come up above my belly button. :glare:
  22. Yes it does make sense about the pros and cons of how he feels about you. Its such a good secure feeling to be loved like that. I've been married 28 years and dh is the same. Infact I think he feels a bit inferior to me now. He's a little older then me and looks alot older so we get the look, like he robbed the cradle. LOL well robbed the cradle a LONG time ago..hehe I think if its just for you and he's supportive then do it for you. I think those who love us most will step in and say hey wait a minute enough is enough!
  23. Becky you deserve to throw away those straight jackets! You are such an inspiration to so many, we're believing sweetie! Its gonna happen!
  24. I just posted somewhere else and saw my ticker - I'm down to single digits! Nine days! I'm getting so obsessive about it, its all I can think about. Can't wait!
  25. Those who know me best would agree! I got a call from the hospital about my pre-op testing, I'm scheduled to go tomorrow at 9am. Now I've been scheduled for a month and they call yesterday and want me to move it to Friday. I said no. I said I requested Wed off of work and I know I can't take Friday off - half truth bc no one would care but I know I have the newsletter to send out on Friday and its an all day job - so she hemmed and haa-ed and said they'd get back with me. I said if you want to move me to later in the day I'm willing to do that but I can't switch days. So they called me this morning and said they would just move me up to noon. I'm thinking good grief theres a whole days worth of testing and I'm the only one who can move? Am I being bitchy? My dh said its those damn old retired people. LOL He was joking bc I said theres probably half of them on the schedule that dont' work and they call me?
