    A Bandster Reflects...........

Love you all tons and tons (ok, hundreds and hundreds...). I'm practicing my "not talking about banding" so much -- gosh its harder than I thought. My original goal was one day with no discussion (work/home/friends) but that didn't work so I'm going for an hour at a time LOL. You guys have no clue how much I talk (LOL, yes you do!)

Throwing up EVERYTHING I have eaten today???

Oh that is not good! Could it be stress? You certainly have a lot going on in your life? I hope tomorrow brings you some "tummy peace". You are in my prayers........

    Day 4 Post Op

Pillows! Walking! Water!! :-). I am with you on the bed -- I was seriously afraid I'd be stuck in bed for days! It gets better and better every hour. Use pillows to prop you and hold close as you sleep -- seems to help with balance and keeping you from rolling into a position where it hurts or is hard to get up from. Keep trying to walk. The walking (like dad said, above) helps A LOT. Sweet dreams! Keep it up :-). Hugs :::::::

    unexpected self control..Pep Talk

You have a great attitude, keep it up!!! Seriously, take a picture of yourself front and sideways and look at it a bunch as you go through the next weeks. The other thing we learned at one of the support group meetings? Write two or three reasons why you are losing weight, put them on sticky notes and keep them where you can refer to them (computer screen, refrigerator, car wherever). You will do fantastic! Congratulations on your success already!!
  5. Thank you for your kind words today! I just get a little overzealous with the advice and I need to tone it down a bit lol. Hugs!!!!!

    Almost Two Weeks Post Op

Congratulations! You are doing so well! I hope you are ok; be sure to talk to your surgeon about doing planks and core exercises? Every surgeon is different; but mine said no core and no legs for 4-6 weeks. I think my tummy hurt for awhile -- it was inside not stitches -- but it was just healing. It wasn't really a pain, more like a dull ache that I used to call a "reminder" of what my body went through. Take care of yourself!!! Hugs :::::::

    Close thy mouth.

You seem to really read my mind! I notice that, when I am not with a group of people even for a day, they always ask how I'm doing. If I say too much I get the "eyes glazing over" situation as well. I'm going to try to follow your lead. Congrats on your NSVs! I know it might be hard for you to see, but you aren't fat anymore! At all!!!
  8. Hi! I'm sorry if my post was not supportive. I felt really bad after reading the responses. I didn't communicate well. I wish you all the best!!!

    Pain in Sternum

Does it go away or come on at a certain time? Like laying down, after exercise, after drinking water (I'm just thinking of things?). I'd suggest recording some information and calling your surgeon with the info. Best wishes..........

    Pictures

You have come a long way! Its good to keep those around for reminders. Thanks for the post and thank you for all your support.

    Too much!

You probably need just a little taken out. But I feel you on the cancelling and re-thinking as I've done that multiple times in the last six weeks. Too full, hungry -- I'm going in Thursday so I guess I'd say -- let the doctor know everything going on and do their tests -- they'll figure it out. That's what we pay them for :-). Best of luck to you.........

    Extreme Craving!

In the end you have to do what works for you. I'm not advocating the diet coke, but I feel your pain. I have to have a cup of coffee every morning. I know people have said that's not good, but honestly I follow a pretty healthy diet and lifestyle and I didn't feel as if I could give up everything at once. I've gone from 2-3 diet cokes and 2-3 cups of coffee a day to 1 cup of coffee a day and maybe 1-2 diet cokes a month. This is a forever thing. You have to work at what works for you! Best of luck.....

Over fill- 5 days of hell

Elephant sitting on my chest...... I am so sorry for what you went through. Keep your chin up the next couple weeks and see how you feel. It sucks to feel the way you did, but I'm glad it got better. Don't cancel the appointment until the day before or two days before to see if you need it. Hugs!!!!!

    And now for the spandex...

Your transformation is amazing. How great do you feel?? Your pictures inspired me to get on the ole ball and do some situps this morning! You have to be close to goal -- you look fantastic!!!
  15. sandradee0124

    Good Fill!!!:)

You are working out a lot! Give yourself some credit for that -- I couldn't do that and I consider myself a driven woman lol (no make that a driving woman -- I drive a lot to and from work). Keep up the great work!!!

    not losing

Everybody is different. I know its hard, but try not to compare yourself to anybody else. Set goals for yourself: exercise, drinking water, eating better -- and then go for them. And think about it! You lost 2 lbs a week for the last 5 weeks! In a year that is over 100 lbs! OMG. You are on a fantastic path to health and success with this band. Don't be depressed!

    1st fill today

You'll feel better tomorrow :-). Take it easy on yourself the next couple days. Yeah to you for taking this step! Best of luck..........

    T-16

You will be on softer foods as well, so the squash or carrotts or whatever can be processed/pureed will be your best bet. I love cucumbers and peppers, but they don't always go done the easiest sometimes. Oh, and watch SKIN. It will not be your friend for awhile -- doesn't go down very easy :-). Hugs :::::::

The benefit of the lives we have is that we have the ability to "start over" at any point in time. Good luck and best wishes.......

    Hi Everybody! Its Been Awhile......

I try not to blog every day anymore. Its been 3 1/2 months since my surgery and honestly things don't change much day-to-day regarding my eating, exercise, health. I've successfully overcome most of the habit and emotional changes and enjoy immensely feeling TREMENDOUSLY better every morning when I get up. I'm 51 (almost 52). I seriously feel better than I did at 40. My only complaints in life are related to my job, and not really any there, either. I'm grateful to have a good job and a paycheck that gives me freedom to enjoy doing the things I do. I do a lot more than I used to socially. I'm going to Marketing meetings in Orange County, volunteering with church, more social stuff with friends. I don't stay home much. I attribute the attitude, the energy, the emotions with the band and the changes I've made since deciding to be banded in January 2010. Its becoming more of the usual lifestyle and less thinking about banding. I never dreamt 9 months ago I would be where I am. I've lost half of the weight I want to lose, and a big part of the hangups I had associated with how I felt about myself. I'm still obese; but I'm truly at peace. On to the next chapter :-). Smiling all the way..........

    Day 11 Post Op

You are doing well! LOL at the shoes -- the first place I noticed a change! I used to wear 8 1/2s, I'm down to 7 1/2s. I tried to put heel protectors in my shoes but they were still falling off. I have about 50 pairs of gorgeous shoes gone! Oh yeah about 60 lbs of ugly fat gone too! :-). You are doing fantastic, have a great day!!!

    That doggone Crunch n Munch!

Janet, you are doing fantastic! A little Crunch and Munch is not going to hurt you! I had a little bite of a sausage sandwich yesterday (1 bite) and I felt terrible. Then I realized a year ago I would have eaten 2 or 3? We have come a long way! Hope you have a great day!
